Man, I'm getting old. This year marks a decade at Simpson. Today I was reflecting on how many siblings I have taught. ...smh. (the little hair I have left is getting grayer)👴🏾

Approximately 3 years ago, I posted the picture on the left of me and this student as he was entering middle school. Unbeknownst to me, he had desired to not only be a part of the Simpson, but my classroom as well. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions and safety protocols, he and I had to maintain a distance of 2-3 feet apart, wear masks, and a plexiglass divided us. Speed ahead to 2023 , none of those challenges exist. I can speak to my students without barriers and give them high fives to denote a job well done. These pictures have come to symbolize to me, that the worst of the pandemic is over.
The student in the picture is Jordan G. who is now a rising 9th grader and almost as tall as me. Congratulations Jordan and best wishes on your journey ahead!
Students have been studying the early American Colonial Life. Earlier this month they received a visit from my cousin “Lord Winthop Jackson” who hails from England. He treated the students to tea and biscuits. 🇬🇧☕🍪

Parents/Guardians
I wanted to stop and take a moment to thank all of the volunteers that showed up this past week for the Colonial Sign hanging event. I know many parents wanted to give us a hand but due to other commitments you were unable to do so. However, thank you for supporting us from a distance. Due to your hard work we were able to hang 350 signs in record time. Just to give you a perspective comparison, 10 years ago when I started with this project, it took us 3 days to hang all the signs; this year we did it in 1 hour and 15 minutes. Though these numbers are quite impressive, it was your willingness to get up early Wednesday morning to volunteer at your child’s school that impressed me the most. I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, Simpson parents/guardians are the best in the world. Thank you again

Thank you Simpson Family!!No more volunteers are needed. Our parents this morning put the Colonial Signs up in record time.
Good Evening Parents/Guardians,
I’m emailing you to give you an update on the Colonial Sign Hanging Event. As of date, we have roughly 12-16 parents who have volunteered to hang Colonial signs. Unfortunately we have missed our goal of 60 parents, an amount that will ensure a smooth process. Therefore, I’m sending a personal plea for help.I am asking all parents who are able and willing to please give us a hand on Wednesday 03/22 at 7:00 AM -until. Students have really worked hard on this project and your support will bring a close to the final journey of their long project. I’ve included a 3-4 minute video in this email giving some understanding about Wednesday and how you can best support.

Parents/Guardians,
I want to send a HUGE thank you for supporting your child with the Colonial Trade Sign homework project. The signs look awesome and I can tell that the students put a lot of effort into creating them. Now comes phase 2 of the project: Hanging the signs. The 6th grade history teachers will need 60-70 volunteers who can come and assist with the hanging of 370 colonial signs in House C. This event will take place on Wednesday, March 22 at 7:00 AM and last until all of the signs have been hung. We are willing to work with any time frame that you are able to volunteer for. We are asking volunteers who have an electric drill to please bring it with them. The drills are needed for drilling holes into the signs for hanging.
If you can support our efforts please contact me at [email protected] with the time frame in which you can assist. As always, thank you for your support.
