COMMUNITY AWARENESS: Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Tips
Catalytic Converters are required to make your vehicle run properly. They are expensive to replace due to the precious metals they contain, and it’s illegal to drive without one.
How will I know if my Catalytic Converter has been stolen?
You will know as soon as you start the engine. Your engine will make a loud roaring sound, may sputter as you increase speed, and may not drive as smoothly.
Prevention tips against Catalytic Converter Theft:
• If you have a garage, use it. Park inside and keep all garage doors closed and locked. If not, try to park in well-lit areas, close to building entrances when possible.
• Install motion-detecting security cameras and/or motion sensor lighting.
• Calibrate your vehicle’s alarm to go off when it detects vibration.
• Etch your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on your catalytic converter.
• Consider a Catalytic Converter lock.
• Pay attention if you hear unusual sawing or wrenching noises coming from the street or parking structure.
• Park to make underneath access difficult. If you are a business with a fleet of vehicles, park lower sitting vehicles close to those with high ground clearance to help prevent access.
• Report all suspicious activity immediately.

This week at Auto Solutions included a engine replacement job on a Jeep 4.0 6 cylinder for a ticking noise anytime the engine was running. After removal Bryant Shomaker confirmed the cause of the noise is a broken piston. Repairs that are correctly diagnosed and replacement parts with outstanding warranty's ( 3 year 100,000 miles parts and labor ) is our goal to ensure our customers receive the absolute most for every dollar spent.

After some long overdue improvements we are happy to show off our new outsoor facelift including seal coating with actual parking spaces (been without for 10 years) and we added outdoor seating. Thank you to all of our great customers for helping to make us one of the best repair shops in Leesburg.

Today's engines have changed dramatically in the last few years with the application of GDI (gasoline direct injection) and turbochargers making there way under most hoods after 2014. The preventive maintenance and regular oil changes (with the proper oil and viscosity) are now more important than ever. Here are a few photos of a important new process of decarbonization of the intake valves that must be done on most GDI engines to preserve proper idle and power delivery.
