Music is deeply rooted in our conscious and unconscious brains, so . . . it becomes even more important if the functioning of the brain is deteriorating, as occurs during a resident’s Memory Care journey. Music can awaken the brain and with it, treasured memories associated with familiar songs or beloved pieces🎶

Poet’s Walk Leesburg is proud to introduce MUSIC CONNECTION! to our activities programming! Combining music loaded onto Bluetooth MP3 Players with padded stereo headphones, music playlists – containing beloved songs from a person’s formative years, can tap deep memories long attached to the brain and can bring listeners back to life, enabling them to feel more like themselves, converse better, socialize, and stay present.

Although residents could enjoy MUSIC CONNECTION throughout our CommUNITY…we have additionally designated a particular room of relaxation with HoMEDICS Sound Effects, Galaxy Light Effects and calm setting😊❤️

“PASSION COOKING with Chef Kevin” was another resounding success, showcasing his Culinary Mastery creating an incredible🇿🇦African dish called Jollof Rice (native to Nigeria and Ghana). Residents absolutely loved it!😊❤️

In August, Kevin will be treating everyone to a fabulous Trinidad dish!🇹🇹 YAY!”

As Poet’s Walk Leesburg continues to grow by leaps & bounds, the popularity of “DRUM🥁FIT” has morphed into “DRUM-FIT+! While we’ve now added tambourines, we’re also certain to leave enough room for the dancers to have their FUN too!😊❤️🎶

Our yearly Back to School Supply Drive has returned and the needs are as big as ever! From school supplies of every kind to school snacks and more, Guilford Elementary School was gifted with a tremendous supply of needs from the generosity of so many Poet’s Walk Leesburg families, friends and vendors last year. It made a difference. Let’s be the shining light on the hill once again. THANK YOU!😊❤️

Residents got in a couple rounds of “19th⛳️HOLE Putt-Putt” while temps soured into the high 90s again outside…followed by their Mint Chocolate Chip Social to keep things coool inside!😎🍨❤️

With Mint Chocolate Chip being resident’s absolute favourite ice cream…you can image the smiles when this comes out on Wednesday “ICE CREAM SOCIAL!”🍨😊❤️

There’s nothing better than two new friends working together on a puzzle and finding success in their teamwork!😊❤️

Day 3 of “YOU ART2 REMEMBER” was a resounding success for these resident artists, whose smiles speak the truth to their pride of self achievement!🎨😊❤️

The high☀️temps might be cook’n🔥outside, however…Chef Kevin and his Culinary Team are sure mak’n use of our fabulous “Resident VEGGIE GARDEN” inside!😎🍅❤️

The resident “Poet’s WALKers Club” got in an early morning walk before today’s temps☀️sour into the high 90s/low 100s!😊❤️💦🔥

Day-2 of our planned 2-day “YOU ART2 REMEMBER” Painting Project, continued to go very well for each resident artist. They chose to pace themselves, so we have extended an additional 3rd-day to complete their works of art…rather than rush to finish. LOVE THIS!!🎨😊❤️
