STA Professional Nursing and Allied Health students are appreciative of the opportunity to network and learn about careers and colleges and the Fast Track Your Future in Health Care event at Kauffman Foundation. Great day of connecting and learning!

So proud of Rachel Mitchell, the STA Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation Management instructor, who was named Missouri Educators of Family and consumer Sciences and Human Services (MoEFCS) Teacher of the Year for 2025! Her dedication to growing programs and creating amazing experiences for students is getting recognized!

It was great to host Engineering Night at STA! Students and their families learned about STA engineering classes, spoke to colleges to learn about their engineering programs, and were able to network with engineers! The event was able to meet students where they are on their career journey--exploring the career or learning the next best step for them!

STA hosted almost 100 seventh grade girls from the 4 LS middle schools to learn about the engineering career pathway this week! According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, women make up only 16% of the workforce in the field. This event aimed to help girls learn about engineering careers from professionals, learn about courses available to them from girls currently enrolled, and collaborate on a design challenge. Girls were invited based on their YouScience aptitude results and interests. It was a great day of mentorship, connection, learning, and fun! We are grateful for Mrs. Mackenzie's organization, our engineering girls who stepped into leadership, and our partners from Henderson Engineering, Benesh, Burns & McDonnel, and Hallmark!

We’re thrilled to announce the incredible achievements of our LSR7 CyberPatriot teams in the State Round of the CyberPatriot Competition! 💻🛡️

🔹 High School Highlights:

LSR7 fielded 5 high school teams in the competition.

One high school team has advanced to the Semi-Finals Round! 🎉

4 middle school teams competed at the state level.

CyberPatriot Round 2 in Action at Summit Technology Academy!
Sunday was buzzing with activity as 5 high school teams and 5 middle school teams competed in Round 2 of CyberPatriot. With the support of 7 dedicated coaches and 10+ mentors, these competitors are showcasing their cybersecurity skills and teamwork. Best of luck to all teams! 🚀💻

STA students from Mrs. Pierson's class participated in the MECA Challenge at IDEA Space KC. They won the "Innovator Award!" So proud of them and all the other students who participated from the Allied Health and Hospitality, Tourism, Recreation Management programs! Thanks to Startland for facilitating this amazing experience for our students!

STA International Studies students not only are earning their Project Ready Certification themselves, they hosted PMI KC MidAmerica Professional Development! Students participated, documented, and informed others about STA. Networking at its finest! Project management is a valuable skill across all industries. STA students are getting real world experience practicing this skill!
