Two of my children had severe eczema. Scratching, bleeding, sleepless nights.
Eczema can itch the most during the night and this was definitely the case for my middle child. He would wake me up every night crying because he couldn’t stop itching. He was exhausted. I was exhausted. I knew something had to change. I knew about the GIMAP stool test but had not ever done one at this point in 2019. I ordered one for him then worked with another functional nutrition provider to help me interpret the results and put together a protocol. After 12 weeks, his skin was 100% clear! His main issue was an overgrowth of h pylori in his gut.
2 years later my youngest child who was only a toddler also started experiencing extreme eczema (pic #1). Ordered the same test. Made a protocol for him. And he’s 90% clear! I actually need to order another one for him to see if we can clear up the remaining 10%, but I digress. He ALSO had h pylori overgrowth among many other imbalances and overgrowth.
This is what really made me a big believer in the GIMAP stool test and why I took an extensive course so I could confidently offer this test to my clients. I’ve seen so many great results in my clients who have done it. In kids, I’ve seen it help not only skin, but constipation, ADHD, sleep and behavior. When the guts a mess, everything else is a mess!
Message me if you think your child might benefit from this test!

A few years ago I made the commitment to only (mostly) buy clothing made with natural fibers and avoid buying synthetic fabrics. If you aren’t familiar with this - look up health consequences of microplastics, PFAS, flame retardants, etc in synthetic clothing.
That said, I still have plenty of synthetic clothing from what I had previously, but over time have been adding more cotton and getting rid of synthetic.
It can be difficult to find AFFORDABLE cotton and other natural fibers, but not impossible. Today at Walmart I saw cotton bras and un**es (Hanes) plus cotton leggings (Terra and Sky) and tshirts and dresses from Free Assembly. I’ve also found a lot of cotton at H&M (especially in the kids section).
There are several other companies like Pact and Definite Articles that use natural fibers only but they’re more of an investment - but do have good sales.
Anyone else know of affordable places to shop for natural fiber clothing?
Make dinner with me. Bean salad with cilantro dressing. Video editing takes too much time so here’s just an uncut raw video 🤷♀️

Getting outside for a morning walk is one of the BEST things you can do for your health and change the whole outlook of your day.
Getting outside in the morning:
-resets your circadian rhythm and helps the body produce more melatonin at night
-boosts mood, energy and motivation the rest of the day
-calms the nervous system for a healthier stress response the rest of the day
-not to mention all the cardio and exercise benefits
I literally get so excited to go on my morning walks and always feel so much better after. I put in my headphones and get to spend some alone time doing something I love before pouring into my family and clients the rest of the day.
When I don’t do my morning walks I notice I have a lot of trouble falling asleep and my energy is lower. If you want somewhere to start with your health - this is it!

Check out my interview about lifestyle tips for breast cancer prevention. Both genetics and lifestyle factors play a role in our risk. There are a lot of factors we CAN’T control. We can’t control what we’ve been exposed to in our past. We can’t change our genetics, but we CAN control these factors:
-eat 25-35 g fiber/day. This is the best evidence we have for diet and breast cancer. A higher fiber diet is associated with a lower risk. Likely not just the fiber, but also the antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that come along with the high fiber foods. Estrogen fuels most types of breast cancers and fiber (especially cruciferous veggies, flax seeds, onions, garlic) can help detox excessive estrogen.
-reduce or eliminate alcohol
-minimum 75 min of exercise/week
-be mindful to reduce environmental toxins by choosing safer beauty care and household cleaning products, using high quality air and water filters, and reducing plastics around food.

My go-to breakfast when I don’t have anything planned: Greek yogurt parfait. I keep these ingredients on hand at all times for a quick high protein and high fiber breakfast.
3/4 cup Greek yogurt (non-fat is higher in protein but full fat taste better IMO…I buy both)
2 T chia seeds (one of the highest fiber foods on the planet)
Small handful of Purely Elizabeth granola
Berries
Drizzle of honey

If I could go back in time to 2014 when we wanted to start a family….
I kind of thought it would be as simple as stopping birth control and getting pregnant a couple months later - boy was I wrong!
First of all, I didn’t even KNOW I had PCOS until I went several months after stopping bc without even having a period and therefore could not get pregnant (no period means you also aren’t ovulating and can’t get preggers). I was put on bc as a teen due to very irregular periods and just stayed on it for years for that reason but had no idea I had PCOS. I hear this same story all the time from other women.
If you want to get pregnant with PCOS here’s what I would do 1 year in advance:
-stop birth control a whole year prior to TTC and work with a functional practitioner to get your body to ovulate!! This is the biggest goal to conceive!
-work very hard on stress management and sleep. If your body is stressed, it doesn’t want to grow a baby
-eat a diet RICH in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber, healthy fats and lean proteins to fill up your nutrient stores for you and baby
-work with a knowledgeable practitioner to run the proper labs to look for any issues BEFORE TTC. Stool test, Dutch hormone, vitamin D, and many other possibilities to set yourself up for pregnancy.
