Just a word or two from me. I was having a conversation with a parent of a Tball player and we were talking about Training/Trainers. I cautioned him about making sure he picks the right one. An inflated resume may not be the best fit, high price doesn't always mean they know how to train your players age group. Have a consultation workout, find out how they teach, how they interact, what level are they teaching. This is how you make your decision. Not pushing my service but I do see this from time to time that instructors or even coaches sometimes forget what level they should be teaching at. With that being said I know some trainers personally that are fantastic at what they do and have a clear understanding of who they are working with and how to mentally break down the system for the player.
I don't know about you but I smell Baseball in the air. The season is right around the corner and traditional thinking would say delete this email, my player is good. However, before you do that hear me out. I ran across an article that made the correlation between preseason, in season and post season training is like a bank account. Preseason Training is like making a bunch of deposits(work) into your account. In/Post Season Training is like making withdrawals all year long. The problem is that if you don't continue to deposit money (focused work) into your account it will run dry and you will be right back to square one. Same with baseball/softball training. If you don't deposit that focused time you will revert right back to the bad habits that we had to break in the first place. Practices and Games are not the place to work on techniques. That is why I am opening up 30 minute Focus Sessions for our players. Hitting, Fielding, Throwing, Catching, whatever it is it will be focused on just that. Players want to get better, parents want their players to get better. Don't let them lose what they worked so hard to gain. I am also introducing a Refer A Player offering. If you refer a new player you will get your next session half off.
Thank you and see you soon.

Referrals Are The Sincerest Form Of Flattery For A Small Business!
I have been talking about this lately of the importance of in season training. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1982763118654424&id=1721047514825987

We put this image/quote out there years ago and have since seen it used in many different forms. Some may get frustrated with that but I think we need to flip those emotions and realize that if you are truly passionate about your message, just the fact that it will be seen by more is what will make the biggest difference. Thank you everyone who reads our words, takes the time to reproduce them in other forms and helps spread the message. It’s all about helping others.
So winter is about to end..... I think and now we move into the best season of all, BASEBALL SEASON!!! So you ponder, "Will/Does my player really need additional work outside of practice?" The answer is yes and here is the reason. Practices now a days are fast moving and short of time. There is a lot to get done and a short amount of time to do it. There is one thing unfortunately that gets lost with all the drills and scenarios.
Repetition: The recurrence of an action or event. During games and practice the player doesn't have a chance to really focus on his reps. Discovering a glitch in his swing or something in his fielding or a mechanic that is off in his throwing. There just isn't enough time to really focus those little things that grow into real problems. Next thing you know they are half way into the season and everything is going wrong and they can't figure out why. I have found with a wide range of players that simple, 30 minute, focused session of pure repetition throughout the year helps that muscle memory and gives them a chance to turn around the issues and really focus on perfection. Now am I saying this happens to every player, no it doesn't. But there are tons of players that go through this and end up not enjoying the game anymore. For what? Thirty simple minutes of extra work a week? Seems like a small price to pay to go from good to great. Please be observant to where your player is at the beginning of the season and what you see throughout. Is he/she missing grounders, striking out (more than normal), throwing wildly or off target (more than normal). These are simple signs of easy fixes that take a small amount of time to correct. No sales pitch this time, this is simply something that I have heard throughout the years and have seen first hand. Great players NEVER stop working!
With the season rapidly approaching what commitment have to you made to your players success this season? Every year I hear and see young players that don't put in a little extra work to solve those nagging bad habits and in turn they quit. Why? Because sometimes as parents we think everything is fine, he or she is just in a slump. The reality may be that they are in a slump because the habits and techniques they have somehow learned are not correct for their body type or strength. Sometimes having a trainer that dissects down what is right and what is wrong and focuses on making those adjustments is all that is needed. If your player can't compete with the players around them they will will quit. Maybe not physically at first but they will mentally. My focus is just that, take the little good things and little bad things and find that common ground of success. Utilizing year long repetition to make the adjustments a reaction, not something they have to think about doing. It has been proven for all of my clients and my players day in and day out. Please don't put your child in a position of failing just because you think they will "break out of it". Please contact me so that I can help keep them mentally and fundamentally ready for and during the season.
