I came across this letter my son wrote when he was a junior in highschool. It speaks for itself..

It was a cold fall day and a stillness like the end of WWII setteled over the barnyard. In the continental chicken coup sat two large hens, one red, and one starspangeled. With each of the fowl sat a large c**k that matched its mate ( or is it the other way around?). The hens were named Scared and Paranoid and the c**ks were named Supergreednarrowmindedfluffchestedanimalinstinctsillybastard -leader and More Than You.
Now you must understand that a nest as big as the whole world could have been made out of the ol' coup, but an animals instinct is to covet his neighbors possesion and c**ks are no exception. With that in mind, visualize this: Each hen tucked in a corner (safely), the c**ks never taking thier eyes off each other and pacing so fast that nuclear weapons were dug up by thier feet. Every so often the c**ks snuck back to thier hen to tell her about how big thier nest could be and whisper paranoia and fear in the chickens ear. Then they run back to the armsrace to flap thier wings all over the globe and spill tons of waste from thier silly chicken asses over every square inch of thier half of the coup. The hens dont mind because "someday it will be all ours!" Meanwhile, back at the cold front the c**ks get closer then ever but never draw blood, beaks open and feet stammer like typerwriters but nothing ever comes of the flapping in fear of a winter called M.A.D.. The standoff continues in all definitions of the word and each c**k stuffs its hen with all the grits he can get until one is so fat it knows only how to eat and the other starves to death. After a stained, bald man takes down a wall the quasi Pax Americana begins because the Red c**k no longer has any hope of rasing a family and the star spangeled hen has a thousand needy chicks with mouths wide open.
So the story goes and I live in the summer of chicken p**p seeing only how big our nest is and how many chicks we feed. From one animal to another: it smells in my nest. From one American to another: if the sky falls in fried chicken fallout; DUCK AND COVER !

I have a dear friend who followed her dream and moved to Belize. She is in her early 60's. She took her dream and started to put it all together. First she took about three trips to try on the cultural and test the waters if you will.
