Big “THANK YOU!” to the Lee’s Summit Fire Department and their dedicated, helpful personnel for providing shelter during yesterday afternoon’s tornado warning. There were people from The Chamber of Commerce and other downtown businesses, pedestrians, a bus load of people from St. Louis, along with team member Courtnie and Drayton huddled out of harms way in the Station No. 1 fire and EMT headquarters basement. It’s a great comfort to know that our city’s fire department is, like a good neighbor, there for us.

Peggy was a leader and a wonderful person, a unique individual loved by the downtown Lee's Summit Community. I remember her best during the tough months of the rebuild of the streetscape. She was a model of courage and hope.
