We need three things to reduce homelessness: enough housing, an outcomes-focused response system, and targeted help for people in need.
With all three, we can reduce homelessness in the short-term.
And, in the long-term, we can make homelessness rare overall, brief when it occurs, and non-recurring โ so that when people exit homelessness, they exit for good.

The Egan Warming Centers season is coming to a close, and we need your help to pack up โThe Zoneโ this Sunday, March 29.
We still have plenty of open volunteer spots for both shifts:
โข 10 AM โ 1 PM
โข 1 PM โ 4 PM
This is a great opportunity to lend a handโno experience needed. You donโt have to be familiar with the site, and kids are welcome too. There will be a mix of tasks like sorting, organizing, cleaning, and moving supplies. Snacks and water will be provided, and the weather is looking pretty great for it.
This work matters. As we pack up for the season, weโre also looking aheadโthis space has the potential to support our unhoused neighbors year-round, and your help makes that possible.
Join us at The Zone (530 Hwy 99 N, just north of Roosevelt) and be part of wrapping up another impactful Egan season alongside an incredible community of volunteers.

The lack of deeply affordable housing is a primary cause of homelessness. For many, rising costs create an impossible choice between paying for housing and other necessities like healthcare, groceries, or clothing.
Only 35 affordable and available rental homes exist for every 100 extremely low-income renter households. Median rents are increasingly unaffordable.
States with high rents tend to have higher homelessness rates. And the STATE OF WASHINGTON RANKS #9 IN HIGHEST RENTS in the United States.

The Tribal Housing Grant Fund is a first-of-its-kind program designed to provide state funds to help address the housing needs of the Nine Federally Recognized Tribes of Oregon.
This fund is an exciting opportunity to advance government-to-government relations to support housing stability and Tribal self-determination. OHCS and representatives from Tribal Nations worked for more than a year to develop the program, and the fund's flexibility intentionally uplifts Tribal sovereignty.
Funds can be used for programs such as:
Homelessness response and prevention
Affordable rental housing
Homeownership support
Land acquisition, infrastructure, development, and rehab
