Thank you for the calls and text! The robbery was in the bank next to our office but we are all safe here at the office…honestly I’m probably the safest location in town at the moment!! Super grateful for my amazing security system at the office and the Lebanon Police Department 🩵

Celebrating another 3rd grader today!!! 🥳📚🩵
He may not love school — and that’s okay! What matters is that he now has the confidence, skills, and know-how to tackle his assignments independently. Watching kids realize “I can do this” will always be the best part. 🧠📈

This sweet family attended parent-teacher conferences in February at their school and immediately reached out to Learning with Floyd for an assessment. It was extremely difficult to look at a family I had met only 30 minutes earlier and tell them their son needed to be evaluated for special education services — but it was the right thing to do.

Within 5 days of meeting this student, we had an S-Team meeting scheduled, and by Spring Break he was being evaluated for speech services. He ultimately qualified, and we were able to develop an IEP to support his needs.

Although services won’t officially begin until next school year, we didn’t wait to start addressing the gaps. His family committed to the process from day one, stayed on the waitlist, and showed up every single time I had an opening for a session.

Early intervention matters. Sometimes the hardest conversations are the most important ones, and this is exactly why advocating early can completely change a child’s trajectory. I’m so proud of the progress he has already made and excited to see what happens next year with the proper supports in place. 🧠📈✨

Unpopular opinion, but the 3rd grade retention law is a necessary evil.

Should there be adjustments so more than ONE test can be considered? Absolutely.
Should growth be weighted heavily instead of focusing mostly on proficiency? Absolutely.

So why am I still a supporter of the law? Because it forces schools to identify struggles early and communicate concerns to families. Unfortunately, not every parent has the educational background or experience to recognize when their child is significantly behind academically. Earlier identification means earlier intervention — and that matters.

This student is a perfect example of the system working the way it should:
1. Student was identified with an ILPD in 2nd grade, and the parent met with the school team.
2. Prediction charts were sent home showing the student was not projected to reach proficiency without intervention.
3. Student started Learning with Floyd in November.
4. We filled foundational gaps, the student no longer needed RTI support at school, and a 504 plan was written with appropriate accommodations. (A read-aloud accommodation was neither appropriate nor requested.)
5. HARD WORK + MOTIVATION + collaboration between the teacher, parent, student, and Learning with Floyd = SUCCESS.

The goal should never be retention itself. The goal should be early identification, targeted intervention, accountability, and giving kids the support they need before gaps become impossible to close.

THREE Learning with Floyd students received growth awards in their tutoring areas today!!! 🥳🧠📈

And yes… the 2 girls are mine 😂 but trust me, teaching your own children is some of the hardest work you’ll ever do! So parents, never feel bad about bringing in extra support when your child needs it. Sometimes kids learn best from someone outside of mom or dad 😝💯

So proud of all three of these students and the hard work they’ve put in this year! Growth deserves to be celebrated 👏

Limited availability on Tuesday mornings for the month of June! Thursday is FULL but you can join the waitlist for Thursday from 8am-8pm.

Summer sessions do not guarantee a spot in the Fall. Fall sessions require an initial assessment with growth plan!

Data! Data! Data! 📈✨

Is data everything? Absolutely not. Confidence building is KEY, and that can’t be measured on a test. But I can almost guarantee you’ll notice a difference in your child’s confidence after just 3–4 sessions with me!

So why do I post data if it isn’t everything? Because growth deserves to be celebrated. 👏 Data helps show the hard work happening behind the scenes. It gives families something tangible to see progress, especially when a child has spent so long feeling “behind” or defeated academically.

The numbers may tell part of the story, but the real win is watching a child go from “I can’t do this” to “I think I can.” ✨

Now look at her SOARING! 🚀

Learning with Floyd data is starting to roll in!!! 🎉📚🧠📈

This student, her parents, and her teachers all put in the hard work — and she increased 3 grade levels during her time with me! 👏🏼

She came excited to learn every single week and would even write down concepts she was confused about at school so we could work through them together. That kind of ownership, consistency, and teamwork makes such a difference.

What makes this even more special is that I had already dismissed her to maintenance the week before this data came in because my own progress monitoring consistently showed she had the skills and confidence she needed. Seeing the official data confirm that growth was such a rewarding moment!

So thankful for this sweet family trusting me with their baby and choosing to invest in her future. Watching students realize they can succeed is one of the greatest gifts of this work. 💛
