FASP EMS was on scene this morning during fire operations at the Downtown Lounge. Ambulances and paramedic squads remained on location throughout the incident, providing medical support to firefighters and emergency personnel.
No human victims required transport. Firefighter rehabilitation services were conducted, and emergency care was provided to three cats rescued from the scene. FASP Logistics Supervisors transported the felines to the Hershey Animal Emergency Center for further evaluation and treatment.
We are grateful for the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies and wish the rescued animals a full recovery.

Today we honor and remember Officer Michael “Mike” Wise, whose life was dedicated to serving and protecting others.
Before becoming a police officer, Mike was a paramedic at FASP. A graduate of Cedar Crest High School and the Center for Emergency Medicine in Pittsburgh, he devoted his career to public service and answering the call when others needed help most.
Determined to fulfill his lifelong dream of law enforcement, Mike joined the Reading Police Department and graduated from the Reading Police Academy in 2002. Though he served the City of Reading for only two and a half years, his commitment, courage, and professionalism left a lasting impact on those who knew and worked alongside him.
Officer Wise was tragically killed after being mistakenly identified during an undercover operation. His sacrifice serves as a solemn reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers every day.
Mike's legacy lives on through his family, friends, fellow officers, and the countless lives he touched as both a paramedic and police officer.
Gone, but never forgotten.
