Bridge Riding for the Disabled
Bridge has an excellent history in serving disabled students as they find new freedom with horses. Bridge volunteers are awesome!!!
Bridge serves people with physical, cognitive and / or sensory disabilities. We take a creative and fun approach that allows students to really enjoy their horse experience. Each lesson is specifically tailored to the individual student. All students must have a physician's consent and program evaluation. Bridge students work with Haflinger horses, Clydesdales, a Quarter Horse and a German Riding Pony. Riders are matched to horses depending on size, mobility needs and availability of volunteers.
Merry Christmas to all of of our Bridge family!
We have just finished our 13th year here. The past two years have been more limited in number of students due to COVID-19. Two per lesson.
Despite the restrictions, We have still been able to serve.
So much joy and progress for our kiddos. One young man can now read well, speak and write. Another student can sit tall and proud on her horse. She is not good at guiding her horse yet but is gaining more feeling and compassion.
We lost Dee Dee, one of our foundation horses in April 2020. She was 30 years old. We brought in Hercules a 13.2 haflinger cross to help out in July 2020. He is a natural at this therapy work. Like Woody, he loves people. We are well supported with our other horses with Myles, Corey and Zoe.
Bridge is a non profit organization now over 33 years old. Our program helps disabled people find new freedom through their interactions with our therapy horses and volunteers. Recently our program has developed an outreach to the elderly to allow them the same experiences.
Please donate to Bridge if you can. Therapy horses eat all year long. Thanks.
