As we close another incredible year of the WCESC Pre-Professional Academy at Sinclair, we are filled with gratitude for the 43+ employer partners who made this experience possible for our students. Your time, mentorship, and willingness to invest in the next generation created opportunities our students will carry with them long after this program ends.
Throughout the year, students heard powerful stories from successful professionals who turned adversity into opportunity, showing them that their future is not defined by their circumstances, but by their perseverance, choices, and willingness to grow.
Students explored careers, developed leadership and workplace skills, and discovered more about what they CAN do and what they may want to pursue in the future. Along the way, many students earned valuable credentials including the Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate, the OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal, and Stop the Bleed certification.
Most importantly, students gained confidence, connections, and a vision for what is possible.
Thank you to every employer, speaker, mentor, educator, and supporter who helped make this year meaningful and unforgettable. Together, we are building brighter futures for students across Warren County.
Our final session included an awards ceremony, VR exploration of IT careers with Chris Hubbard from Sinclair, and an in-depth session on how to build a website led by Traci Stivers of Stivers Media.

The Life Skills Lab at the JLCEC wrapped up the year with learning that was practical, memorable, and a lot of fun! One of the students’ favorites was the Ramen Noodle Cookoff, where students explored the history of one of their favorite meals while learning valuable life skills along the way.
Students discovered that ramen originated in China and was introduced to Japan by Chinese immigrants in the late 19th century before becoming a global phenomenon after Momofuku Ando invented instant ramen in 1958. More importantly, students learned how to prepare flavorful, budget-friendly meals with minimal ingredients and without relying on major kitchen appliances.
Beyond the cookoff, the Life Skills Lab helped students build confidence and independence through real-world experiences that will serve them well far beyond the classroom. From problem-solving and teamwork to budgeting and meal preparation, students gained practical skills for everyday life while having fun and trying new things.
Learning life skills can be meaningful, engaging, and delicious!

A special thank you goes out to the Franklin Fire Department for their continued support of our students and school community. As if on cue, the weather cleared just in time for students to head outside and celebrate the end of the year. It was a great way to end another fantastic year. We are grateful for our partnership with the Franklin Fire Department and their commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of our students.
