Another reminder, at the end of this week on the 2nd and the 3rd we will be closing at 5:00 pm to accommodate the Bluegrass Festival!

Head's up for next week! It's time once again for the annual Bluegrass Festival at Mason Homestead! Because of that, our parking lot fills up pretty quick. To accommodate this, we'll be closing at 5:00 pm October 2nd and 3rd. Enjoy the autumn vibes despite the 100 degree weather!

Calling all movie fans! Join us this Friday at 5:30 pm for a movie discussion club. We'll show a movie with the subtitles on and have a relaxed discussion afterwards, designed to be a social activity for ESL learners but open to the public!

This month our movie will be The Wild Robot, a movie that every time we mention it, someone sighs wistfully and says "I loved that movie". Hope to see you there!

We don't know if you remember, but it's the 21st day of September, so chances are love is changing the mind of pretenders while chasing the clouds away.

Since our hearts are ringin' in the key that our souls are singin', we thought it was a great chance to remember the past with some historical fiction relating to Earth, Wind, and Fire.

This week also features our inaugural meeting of the ESL Movie Discussion Club! All are welcome but we will watch a movie with subtitles on for English learners and will have a chat about it afterwards as a way to practice English conversation skills! We'll be meeting at 5:30pm and this month we will be watching The Wild Robot! Hope to see you there!

The library is excited to announce the arrival of two new residents! You've probably noticed the tank near the printer. It's sat empty for a while now as we've been diligently cycling it to make it a good, healthy environment for some new friends.

And it's finally ready! Today two axolotls moved into their new home at Leander Public Library.

Some factolotls and axolotls:

* Axolotls are amphibians, known as neotenic, meaning they never fully metamorphose from their juvenile form (think midway between a frog and a tadpole).
* In the wild they can be found in Lake Xochimilco near Mexico City. Habitat loss and invasive species have threatened much of their presence in the wild.
* Axolotls are named for Xolotl, the Aztec god of fire and lightning and dog-headed twin to Quetzalcoatl , who transformed himself into the creature to hide and avoid being sacrificed by other gods.
* Axolotls can regenerate lost tails, limbs, and even vital organs!

We've got a big week this week, especially for the teens! The first of two mum making workshops is coming up this Tuesday at 4:30 and an absolutely jam-packed Saturday at 10:00 marks the inaugural meeting of the teen writing group!

Tuesday the 15th also marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month! Hispanic and Latino individuals making up 40% of the state's population. Hispanic heritage is Texas heritage, let's celebrate one of the unique cultures that makes our state what it is!

Amazing Friday news!!! Our printer is back up and running again--we are once again able to help you with all your printing needs! Even printers need a sick day every so often, it turns out.

We are sharing this urgent message on behalf of the Good Boy statue outside the library.

The Good Boy would like us to communicate to whoever gave him his beautiful new sticks the following message:

"Why give if no throw?"

Please return at your next convenience to throw the sticks for him. Then go get them and give him back to him. Then throw them again. We hope you can figure out what to do after that.
