Stop Predatory Gambling works to reveal the truth behind commercialized gambling to advocate for those who have suffered harm, to prevent more victims, and to champion policy reforms that stop predatory gambling. We are one of the most diverse organizations in the United States, one in which citizens of all political stripes work side-by-side to reveal the truth behind gambling operators to prevent more victims.
In a newly released article published in Bloomberg, well respected columnist and Ivy League professor Gautam Mukunda made a powerful argument that our path forward as a country should begin with cracking down on industries where "ruining lives is the easiest way to make a buck."
In a recent interview Mukunda rightly declared: “allowing online sports gambling nationwide was a catastrophically bad decision and should be reversed.”
In Massachusetts, over 83,000 residents suffer from gambling addiction, while another 390,000 are at high risk.
Despite these alarming numbers, the Massachusetts Gambling Commission downplayed DraftKings' predatory AI model designed to target addicted gamblers.
The MGC continues to be complicit in the manipulative and predatory practices of the gambling industry.

The New York Times reveals that DraftKings weaponized AI to optimize its $3 billion promotional budget, targeting vulnerable addicts to drive company growth.
By calculating users' "elasticity scores" to measure who loses the most money per promo, DraftKings concluded that "the best investment would be a problem gambler."
When analysts discovered this pattern and urged leadership to implement safeguards, executive management refused. Staff described the model as "as predatory as it sounds."

A new report on sports gambling released by the New York Comptroller’s Office shows once again that legalized sportsbooks and prediction markets have driven an explosion in underage online sports gambling, from 54 cases to nearly 2,000 in just two years.
With the state’s average public high school enrollment at 648 students for 2026–27, that is the equivalent of three full high schools of minors using adult betting accounts—and those figures represent only the cases that were actually identified.
