We are so grateful for the community support we received this year for our Holiday Bureau/Adopt-a-Family Program. We were able to help 167 local families – with a total of 668 household members – get gifts for the holidays this year all thanks to YOU!

A huge thank you to the community groups who donated to the Ballard Center this holiday season! Special recognition to the kind donations from Lawrence Acacia Lodge #9, the Daughters of the American Revolution's Betty Washington Chapter, and Cans for the Community! Thank you for all you do in Lawrence and your support for our services!

Don’t forget about our upcoming mobile food pantry dates! Distribution takes place at the Douglas County Fairgrounds at 19th Street and Harper Street on December 28, January 11, and January 25. Registration begins at 8:30am with distribution taking place at approximately 10am. Due to COVID-19, all recipients will remain in their cars. We have moved operations indoors to a drive-thru method. Volunteers wearing gloves and masks will load the food.

We’re so thankful for our friends over at Pretzels, Inc. - Lawrence who decided to make this holiday season extra special by donating winter coats for our kids and gift cards for their families! Having some extra help this time of year always goes a long way!

Huge thank you to Tallgrass Training and Wellness for going above and beyond on their first donation drive to support Ballard! Our staff and clients are grateful for your support of our wellness, we couldn’t do the work we do for the community without it. Everyone should check out their page to see how you can benefit from their services as well!

The kids were so excited to have cheeseburgers and apple slices yesterday for lunch - thank you to McDonald’s for saving the day when our cook got sick!

Thanks to all the local law enforcement officers who participated in Ballard’s annual Take Our Youth Shopping (T.O.Y.S.) event, as well as McDonald’s and Walmart for enabling us to do this year after year!

The season of giving has continued into December here at Ballard, and we’re so grateful that is has! Huge thank you to First Baptist Church of Lawrence, Kansas for all the hard work they put in on Saturday – we hope it was as fun as these pictures make it seem!

Giving Tuesday has passed, but there is still time to support the Ballard Center and other local nonprofits.
