The time is here, the time is right. We're welcoming the final lineup for this year's dreary Driftmist night. Along, of course, with our co-brothers in Drifter, and the raw thrash of Sarkatha, we are thrilled to announce that prog metallers Kegare will be opening Driftmist IV on Saturday December 20th. This will also be the 12" LP release celebration for Drifter's "Grigori" full length they previously put out on CD and cassette back in the Spring. Pre-orders through Drifter and will start this Friday. Doors open at 7:00pm, show starting at 8:00pm at The Bottleneck. All ages entry, and as always $10 cover at the door. We hope to see many of you joining our holiday ritual.

Hello everyone! We have to make the unfortunate announcement that our upcoming show at the Bottleneck with Oak, Ash, & Thorn on August 18th will be our last with our great friend and bassist Kyle Calloway. We've really enjoyed getting to rip some gigs with Kyle this year, and immensely appreciate the time and dedication he's put into stepping into this role. We've gotten along great with him, he's been a friend long prior to him coming on board, and of course plays with Jon in Tombseeker as well. No bad blood, we totally support his need to exit, he'll always be a friend to this outfit.

That being said, we are back in the market for a new bass guitarist to take his place. Feel free to inquire on FB or IG messages on potential try outs if you're interested in being a part of what we're doing. The only real requirements initially are gear related, feeling the vibe comes more in person. We're very leftist political people, and most of us here are very outspoken on that in our personal lives. Regardless of that, here's what we're looking for in potential players:

- We'll post an additional comment below with full requirement details/info. (Character limits in post)

We hope to hear from some of you, and hope to jam with some of you as well!

- Good gear; particularly good amps and axes - we do have good cabs that can be provided when needed, but obviously preferred if you have your own.
** Additional note: your rig can be an amp modeler (Quad Cortex, Helix, Axe Fx, Kemper, etc) going into a power amp to achieve your tone - this band loves pedal nerding, but we've fully embraced our guitar rigs going through a QC.

- Have your own way of transporting yourself and your gear to/from local shows - we will otherwise be traveling with a trailer to regional dates starting in 2026.

- Experience with, or okay with learning how to, playing with in-ear monitors.

- Willing and available to do travel dates (the game plan is to finally have a tour-ready vehicle again in 2026, and get back on the road a bit).

- While it's not necessary for you to have an extensive background on the history of all things black metal, we're not going to quiz you on how Strid were the original innovators of dsbm - even though they were, but having an interest in this genre beyond some of our peers our sound is compared to could be ideal. A punk rock mentality mixed in is honestly way more attractive.

- No bigotry in any form. Jon and Dustin are always happy to educate folks who are perhaps lost on the right side of history - but if you hold the position that the woke mind virus is causing the collapse of modern society, this band might not be the best fit for you.

- Also, no cops, thanks.

If this sounds like a possible fit for you, feel free to reach out! We're continuing to write, continue to become more and more self-sufficient to record and produce ourselves going forward, and hoping to bring along the right addition that we mesh with, and who meshes with us. And we do intend to start traveling and doing some minor touring again.

Thank you for reading - we hope to hear from some of you!

We were asked to hop on a last minute benefit gig to help raise money for a member of the community who was recently as victim of a wrongful arrest on her way to Nebraska. We need to quickly raise $5,000 to post her bond and get her safely out of jail, and a great amount of additional funds afterward for proper legal counsel to put the harassment she faces from a legal system that disproportionately targets people of color, especially indigenous people like her, to bed once and for all.

There is a GoFundMe which has thankfully raised over $3,000 so far, but still woefully short of what is needed to get her out. I'll post the link in comments. We will be leaving most of our merch at home, but will be selling CDs for $10, with 100% of what we sell going towards the GoFundMe.

We'll be at Penn Valley Skatepark at 6:30pm. More details on the flyer. Please show up, and if you can't, consider providing a donation on GoFundMe, share the link, share the flier. Whatever can be done to raise more funds for Madz. Thank you, and solidarity.

With Driftmist III in the books, we have news we have to unfortunately share that we announced during our set:

Last night's show was the last we'll get to share with our longtime bass guitarist, and incredible friend, Ben Chipman. Ben jumped into Aprilmist at a very pivotal time for us, and the contributions he made have so many different dynamics that we can't begin to list them. But he brought Fragments to the table, which became our first music video, and he performed on our first music video that included performance shots: A Moment's Ghost. Be assured that the parting is very much amicable, and we greatly support the new music and life adventures he has in store for the future. He will always be family, and his presence and playing will certainly be missed. Thank you for everything, Ben.

With all of that said, there is good news to level things out: we will go into 2025 welcoming Kyle Calloway (Tombseeker) as our new bass guitarist. We're very much looking forward to a new chapter in the Mist book that includes an array of things we want to try doing that Kyle is capable of contributing towards.

We're continuing to write for a new EP that we'll release in 2025, and there's a lot of other excellent progress we're building toward a different future for how we operate on and off stage. We're working to finally get back on the road a little bit (where we make the time to) next year as well.

Prior to the release of Homesick, we were very much absent from noticeable activity - and this year was very fruitful to the extent of incredible shows we got to play between Kansas City and Lawrence: doing gigs with so many hometown friends, Ov Sulfer, Abigail Williams and Vale of Pnath, Tomb Mold, multiple outings with our friends in Ghost Bath, Dark Funeral, and of course the 3rd successful showing of Driftmist. We had a brilliant year, and hoping that 2025 brings more of that same energy. Big ups to everyone who came out, big ups to outlets like Too Much Rock who documented so much of what we did show to show, Jacki Becker, Aaron Jindra, and Mammoth and every venue that booked us - we hope to see you all again next year!
