Last Saturday I had the honor of being part of the Todd Snider tribute at Wildwood Saloon. Todd was a truly gifted singer-songwriter who tragically passed away last year, and it meant a lot to be included in a night celebrating his music.

I had never played a tribute show before, but it sounded like a great time — especially knowing I’d be backed up by and his band. No pressure, right? 😅

At soundcheck I thought I had the tune down, but something just didn’t feel right. We only got one run-through, so I went home and practiced the song 18 times. Jay-Z style (iykyk).

All the “what ifs” started creeping in:
What if a huge Todd fan was in the crowd and I messed up their favorite song?
What if I looked like a do**us in front of this great band and a bunch of local peers?

Turns out… everything went just fine. I even got into it a bit.

The best part of the night was meeting a ton of wonderful people — artists and fans who care deeply about Todd and his music. Huge thanks to Brian at the Englert for asking me and putting the show together.

Someone told me afterward, “The night felt like the Mill.” And that felt pretty special.

Hey guys,
I think I need to update you all on what is going on with my music! Last year I was awarded a really great grant with the Iowa Endowment for the Arts that is being used to fund my next record. I’ve always gone broke or into debt to make records happen so this is major help! If you are interested I this program definitely DM to talk about it.
Lucas, Chloe, and I have been working since the late Fall demoing new songs and development the arrangements. I’m really excited to start playing these new songs out live.

GODS HAND 7” RELEASE SHOW COMING UP WITH THIS MELTED LINE UP

We have a couple new songs coming out (home recorded in Coralville), a couple new members (Gersh and Colin), and a great release show line up.

Hey Friends,
We are putting a final touch on the Plain Angels era this Friday with a show this Friday at CSPS in Cedar Rapids. Show starts at 8pm. I’m getting a little tired/uninspired playing the old stuff but it’s been so great playing these last two shows with the band that made the album…it’s been a joy to play with this band. I’ll take some time to work up some new material and we’ll need to take some time to find a new guitar/keyboard extraordinaire bc Joe Shanks is moving to the Windy City. This band really rips…the sound guy at Codfish said we “f!$&ing rocked”. Come see our bi-annual CR show this Friday—CSPS is a lovely spot to see a show.

I’m really excited to be getting the “Live Angels” band back together for a special couple of shows this month.

“LIVE ANGELS” a 6 song live EP recorded at the last July will be released next Friday, May 23rd ahead of our show at the Trumpet Blossom that night. There will also be video of every track that will accompany the release.
