We want to congratulate St Croix Prep Basketball and Trinity Trihawks for an incredible Hoops4ALS night last week! You helped raise over $2,200 for ALS research by selling customized rally towels, cupcakes, raffle tickets, and a cheerleader-led “Miracle Minute” at halftime and direct donations to your fundraising website! We are so grateful!! We know this meant a lot to your community. And we can't wait to do it again next year! 🏀

Many thanks to all the basketball programs and athletic departments willing to help give our cause a voice. We're extremely grateful for their platforms and joining us in the fight against ALS.

As we are getting ready for the 2025-26 Hoops4ALS season, we would like to offer our condolences to the Butler family. We lost Josh Butler in September to ALS.
The Butlers started to promote ALS Awareness and to help fund ALS research. We were honored to have them as a founding Hoops4ALS sponsor and will continue to feature their logo on our page going forward.
We are grateful for the Butler family’s support. They will always be part of the Hoops4ALS family.

Some shots from the last Hoops4ALS game of the season at Pitt. We partnered with Pitt for three games this year so in many ways it felt like home. Thanks to Coach Capel and everyone behind the scenes who made last night’s game a success. Good luck the rest of the way!

When you bring up the names Jeff and Jason Capel, it usually isn’t too long until some of the best college basketball moments from the last several decades come up.
Jeff was the gritty and quick four year floor general at Duke in the mid 90s. He followed in his father’s footsteps to become a great coach and develop some of the NBA’s top talent with stops at Duke, Oklahoma, and Pitt. Jason is still one of the few players to start all four years at North Carolina, leading his UNC team to the 2000 Final Four. He’s also on his brother’s coaching staff at Pitt. If you’re looking for good and competitive college basketball coached by guys who know the game, check your listings for the next time Pitt plays.
Since losing their dad, Coach Jeff Capel II, to ALS in 2017, the Capels have also become a force in the ALS community, using their platform to build awareness and support for ALS advocacy and research. Tomorrow, the Capels lead their Pitt Panthers against Boston College in our last Hoops4ALS game of the season (6pm EST, ACC Network). Jeff is a founding member of Hoops4ALS, and without his willingness to lift up the group, none of what we’ve been able to do over the last two years would have been possible.
The Capels are basketball superstars who understand the impact of using the platform they’ve earned to help those dealing with ALS. Many thanks to Jeff and Jason for putting Hoops4ALS on the biggest stages in college basketball.
