The Red Tractor Farm

Kidding season has concluded and today we took the goats you see here and merged all the does and kids and other adults together. It’s always a little hectic, especially for the kids, but they are settling in on this sunny Saturday afternoon.

This morning the very pregnant goats didn’t like the round bale hay rations and thought maybe there was something in the snowy field that would be better. After learning that we added good, fresh hay in the barn they dutifully returned. Goat kids born in the barn are a little easier than goats born in the snow. The gate is locked so now everyone has to stay put!

The pigweed and ragweed cleanup crew is on duty.

A foggy start and a forecasted heat index of 102 today. High of 78 degrees tomorrow. The farmers — and we’ll assume the goats, the chickens and the farm dogs — will savor that change to the weather. Here’s a steamy foggy quasi rainbow over goats to start the day.

Whether you favor a toy tractor or the full size version, everyone can look forward to the conclusion of this heat wave in four more days. The mornings are still pretty, though!
