Today, we honor freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of justice and equality.

On June 19, 1865—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation—the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally told they were free.
Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of both progress made and the work still ahead.

Freedom delayed does not diminish its power—but it calls us to action. Let’s keep moving forward, together. ✊🏾

LMH Health is looking for Wayfinder Volunteers to help create a welcoming, supportive experience for patients and visitors at both our Main and West Campuses. Wayfinders play an important role by offering directions, answering questions, and being a friendly face during what can often be a stressful time.

The commitment is simple. Most volunteers serve once a week for a 2-4 hour shift, and we provide all the training you need to feel confident in the role. Show off the generous spirit in Lawrence while making a real difference in someone's day.

Congratulations to Rachel Haase on receiving the DAISY Extraordinary Nurse Award! Rachel works in the Endoscopy Center on the Main Campus. She was nominated by a patient who was grateful for the compassion Rachel showed during a recent visit.

"Rachel went out of her way to help comfort me as I suffer from anxiety, depression and PTSD. As we got to the room for them to start, she talked to me about my kids, which helped sidetrack me a little until the CRNA came in. Then it hit me and my anxiety got the best of me as she asked me to turn to my left side. I began to cry. Rachel held my hand, told me that she would be there the whole time while wiping my tears away and rubbing my back to comfort me.

"As someone working in the medical field, I have always been the one to comfort the patients and their families. To be on the other side and having such a caring nurse who did what she knew to help calm me down...She jumped right in and knew exactly what she was supposed to do. Even afterwards, Rachel came to check on me as I was leaving and gave me a cookie she made. I can say she’s not only a passionate nurse but she is also a great baker as well.

"Rachel is an amazing person inside and out. I can tell she cares above all and that’s what makes her an amazing nurse. Thank you for making me feel heard and not feeling like a burden. Thank you for being such a caring person. Thank you for being you!"

UPDATE - 8:10 AM: Thanks to our friends Evergy, the power is back!👏👏👏

Heads up! There’s a power outage in the area affecting LMH Health Primary Care - 6th & Folks. If you’re trying to reach us, please be patient — our phones and systems may be slower than usual.

We are still seeing patients, and Evergy currently estimates power will be restored before 9 a.m. We’ll share updates as we receive them.
