Accidental art… Sometimes what you capture inadvertently can inspire something new in your work. Found this beauty in my camera roll from few days ago. I wonder…

These are some of the less offensive pieces i made in my recent ceramics classes. What I have learned after two sessions of ceramics at …
#1: Manipulating clay with your hands is deeply therapeutic and time in a studio away from screens is, too.
#2: One has to be really comfortable (at this stage) with the complete crapshoot of it all.
#3: Making pottery is a laborious process with many steps, each requiring a high level of skill, which I do not have. Embrace the epic crapshoot.
#4: With each step (and they’re all critical) there’s ample opportunity to seriously f**k it all up. And I have and will again without doubt.
#5: Community is so good. Trying and failing in the company of others is a joyful endeavor. Find yourself some of that.
Finally, learning something new is humbling and inspiring and, most of all, greatly empowering, even if the end products of your pursuits are objectively true failures. All you can do is get back to it, keep learning, keep trying, and hope to grasp a wisp of competence to carry with you to the next try.
Happy making, friends!
