Wall graphics are not one product, and most people only know about one of them.

Cut vinyl lettering puts a brand line, a quote, or your logo straight onto the wall, with the wall color showing through behind it. Printed wall graphics cover the surface in full color: photography, pattern, and the kind of detail cut vinyl cannot reproduce.

A dimensional letter is cut from solid material, so it has real thickness on the wall instead of being printed onto it. You can see it on these letters: the edge of the material shows along the bottom of each one, and each letter throws its own shadow back onto the ribbed panel behind it.

They are one flat color, sitting on the dark fascia above the brick and the glass, which is the plainest band on the front of the building.

Dimensional lettering can be flat cut, formed or cast, in a range of materials and thicknesses, sized for a reception wall or the face of a building like this one. The thickness and the finish get chosen for how far away people will be reading it from.

Sharing a business park is confusing for a first-time visitor, and a customer who cannot find you often does not try twice.

This directory at Starkey Lakes Corporate Center is doing wayfinding work. Every tenant gets its own line and its own arrow, commercial offices and Pinellas County services on the same panel, so a driver reads it once and knows which way to turn.

Post and panel is exactly what it sounds like: a sign panel mounted on or between posts. These signs can be done in a wide variety of materials, styles and options.

The same construction covers a short-term Rent, Lease or Sale sign, a construction site board, and permanent building identification like this one at the Jabil ThermalWorks Technology Center. What changes between them is the material and the finish.

On a work vehicle, the phone number is the thing that has to be readable from another lane.

On this van it sits by itself on the front door, in large black figures, with nothing crossing it. The name runs across the cargo panel behind it, with the stopwatch mark set between the two words in a pale grey that stays back and lets the black type read first. The service line goes under the name in red, the tagline under that, and the web address lower down the body for people who are close enough to read it.

It is all lettering and printed graphics on a yellow body, so nothing is fighting anything else for the same space.

A monument sign typically sits flush to the ground, with no poles holding it up. That is what makes it read as part of the property rather than something bolted onto it.

This is the entrance sign we completed for Starkey Lakes Corporate Center in Largo: a dimensional header for the property name, with the tenant panel below it. Monuments can be built from materials including hard-coated foam and aluminum, lighted or unlighted, and they can carry stone, brick, sandblasted or dimensional detail to match what the building already looks like.

Routed and sandblasted signs are both carved, but they are made two different ways and they look it.

Routing cuts the design down into the panel with a bit, which leaves crisp clean edges and lettering that keeps its shape for years. That is what you are looking at here. Sandblasting textures the background instead, so the letters stand up off a surface with a grain to it.

Both hold up well outdoors in Florida. Which one suits your entrance mostly comes down to whether you want sharp modern edges or something with more texture.
