As Police Week 2026 comes to a close, we pause to honor and remember the fallen heroes of the U.S. Border Patrol and law enforcement community who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

We are grateful to President Donald J. Trump for hosting the BPUnion Executive Committee at the White House Rose Garden during this year’s Police Week observance. We also extend our appreciation to Secretary Mullin, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Vice President J.D. Vance for their hospitality and support of law enforcement.

It was a privilege to attend the National Peace Officers Memorial Service and pay tribute to this year’s fallen agent honorees, BPA Dave “Chris” Maland and SBPA Eric Cespedes.

Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

After decades of public service, Chief Michael Banks closes an extraordinary chapter with the U.S. Border Patrol.

Thank you, Chief, for your leadership and your commitment to the men and women in green.

The National Border Patrol Council will not stay silent. We will defend our members when others attack them for nothing more than political expediency and personal gain.

Extreme leftist advocate Chuck Schumer chose to attack and undermine Border Patrol agents and ICE officers—disrespecting the very people who risk their lives to protect this country.

Let’s be clear. The problem isn’t the agents on the line—it’s politicians like Schumer who tear them down to appease the extreme and unhinged maniacs who hate law and order.

Border Patrol agents don’t make the laws—they enforce them. And they do it every day under dangerous, difficult conditions. Elected politicians in Congress like Chuck Schumer make the very laws they criticize.

These are the same agents who respond when the country needs them most—deploying to natural disasters like hurricanes, floods, and wildfires, and assisting law enforcement at the Local, State and Federal levels in tracking down and capturing some of the most dangerous criminals in this country, including escaped fugitives.

When Americans are in danger, Border Patrol agents respond and serve in any capacity.

During this ongoing DHS shutdown, we recognize the financial hardship many of our US Border Patrol Professional Staff are experiencing while continuing to report to work without pay. Your dedication to the mission does not go unnoticed.

In an effort to support our Local 2455 Members during this challenging time, Clear Choice Emergency Room, in partnership with NBPC Local 2455 - Laredo, will be distributing $250 HEB gift cards to unpaid professional staff who are Local 2455 Union Members. Union Membership will be verified.

This includes Border Patrol Processing Coordinators, Mission Support Specialists, and other support personnel impacted by the DHS shutdown.

Gift Card distribution will take place today April 6, 2026 at the Union Headquarters (6422 Sinatra Parkway, Laredo, Texas 78041) from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Local 2455 Members,

Today, President Trump signed a memorandum authorizing backpay for all DHS employees who have gone without pay since the beginning of the shutdown.

This memorandum should bring everyone current through Pay Period 06.

We expect pay to be processed and received NLT than the next regularly scheduled pay day, but hopefully sooner.

Once we receive more information, we will update you all.
