Historic Milestone for our Poultry Judging Team.

For the first time in UISD history, our chapter's Poultry Evaluation Team has been crowned the Texas FFA Area 10 Champions!

This isn't just a win; it’s the result of three years of dedication and nearly 5,000 miles traveled across Texas roadways. For the 3rd consecutive year, these students are heading to the STATE competition in College Station to represent the best of the best.

Individual Highlights:

Abel Vergara: Area X Individual High Point Champion!

Valeria Rios: 3rd Place Individual

Joselyn Garza: 6th Place Individual

Emilio Gonzalez: 29th Place Individual (Out of 160 contestants!)

With over 300 teams competing statewide, our sights are now set on a Top 10 finish at the State level. Let’s wish them luck as they take on Texas!

We would also like to send a howling congratulations to UHS FFA Chapter for qualifying not 1, not 2 BUT THREE teams (Poultry, Livestock & Vet)!

At the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Ruben wasn’t done making moves!

After being the 1st scrambler to catch in his heat, he advanced to the FINALS… and went out there and caught 3rd in the final heat, earning himself ANOTHER livestock scholarship! 💰💪

That’s how you turn speed into scholarships! 🏃‍♂️🔥

BIG SHOUTOUT to our calf scramblers who got it done at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo!

Ruben Ramirez and Christopher Malacara both received a $2000 scholarship that will be used toward the purchase of a market or breeding livestock project for next years San Antonio Livestock Show! Ruben was the 1st scrambler to catch in this heat and earned the opportunity to compete in the “finals” for a chance to earn more scholarships!

Cant forget to shout out Kendra Villarreal for stepping up and running with the bulls at the last moment when not all participants were able or available!
