🎺 UISD Fine Arts shines light on incredible musical achievements! 🎷

We recognize our outstanding band programs for representing United ISD and Region XIV with excellence at the TMEA Honor Band Area Level.

“Three United ISD ensembles will advance to the State Level! These accomplishments place our students and programs among the very best in the state of Texas,” said Joshua Martinez, UISD Director of Fine Arts.

We would like to recognize the extraordinary achievements of our high school programs, with the United High School Band earning 1st Place at the Area Level and John B. Alexander High School Band earning 2nd Place at the Area Level. Through these outstanding performances, both ensembles have earned the honor of advancing to the TMEA State Honor Band Level!

We also extend a special congratulations to the Clark Middle School Band for earning 4th Place at the Area Level and advancing to the TMEA State Honor Band Level!

Please join us in congratulating our UISD Middle School Area Honor Band representatives:

“Having seven ensembles represent United ISD at this prestigious level is a powerful statement about the strength and continued growth of music education throughout our district. These accomplishments do not happen by chance—they are the result of outstanding instruction, countless hours of preparation, student dedication, supportive families, and educators who continue to pursue excellence at the highest levels,” said Martinez.

Congratulations once again to all of our programs, and best wishes to Clark Middle School, United High School, and John B. Alexander High School as they continue their journey at the TMEA State Honor Band Level!

Good luck at State! 🎶🔥

🧡 United is looking forward to an outstanding 2027 Longhorn baseball season❗️

Laredo United Star Hector Cadena Showcases Elite Skills on East Coast Circuit LAREDO, Texas — by Sal Sciaraffa Jr. Lrd SW News-

Hector Cadena, the standout shortstop for the United Longhorns, is ensuring his final high school season will be his most explosive yet.

Now entering his senior year, the Texas A&M commit spent his summer traveling the East Coast, dominating top-tier baseball showcases and cementing his status as one of the premier high school prospects in the country.

Already ranked by Perfect Game USA as the No. 10 third baseman nationally in his class, Cadena traded the Texas heat for national exposure, testing his elite tools against the country’s best.

Fine-Tuning a National Profile Cadena’s summer itinerary included prestigious showcase events like the Perfect Game WWBA National Championships, where he consistently turned heads of major league scouts and college recruiters.

Known as a dynamic athlete with rare physical presence, Cadena used the circuit to sharpen his defensive rhythm at shortstop and fine-tune his approach at the plate against elite, high-velocity pitching.

On the summer circuit, Cadena continued to flash the eye-popping data that has made him a household name among scouts:Blazing Speed: Clocking a 6.56-second 60-yard dash, giving him premier range and making him an immediate threat on the basepaths. Raw Power: Recording a max exit velocity of 108.8 mph during BP sessions, driving baseballs with authority. Infield Arm Strength: Flashing a big 89 mph arm across the diamond, confirming his ability to stay on the left side of the infield at the next level.

Bringing the Momentum Back to Laredo Cadena’s East Coast tour follows a monstrous junior season at United, where he took home District 30-6A Offensive Player of the Year and THSBCA 6A All-State honors.

Moving to the leadoff spot and shifting seamlessly from third base to shortstop, Cadena anchored the Longhorns lineup by batting a blistering .453 with a 1.304 OPS, launching 5 home runs, and swiping 29 stolen bases.

Laredo’s top slugger is sharper, faster, and ready to lead the United Longhorns toward a deep playoff run this coming spring.
