Unpopular skincare opinion: Retinol is sometimes overhyped.🫣 BUT a lot of my clients use this product and for reasons they might not need it for!

Before you come for me, retinol absolutely works. It’s one of the most researched ingredients in skincare.

But as an esthetician student, I’m learning it’s often marketed as a one-size-fits-all solution, when skin is way more individual than that.

Retinol is a tool, not the entire toolbox.

The reality:
Skin barrier health comes first
Consistency matters more than strength
Many people would benefit from basics before actives
Not every skin concern requires retinol
