Phantom Racing - Xp 44

We ended the season with the Commodore’s Cup on Saturday just before the storm rolled through. I had a fantastic crew, but we couldn’t keep the cup at LYC. Congrats to AYC for getting it back.

Can One was a lot of fun last night with a 16k gusting to 20k easterly, then our weekly Thursday night Bbq back at LYC. Looking forward to next week!

We squeezed into 3rd place (by just 10 minutes!) in ORC Division 2 of the 475-mile Annapolis to Newport Race!
Huge thanks to our incredible navigator and the entire Phantom crew—your hard work, determination, and great vibes made this challenging race a memorable one. It was a light-wind year, not exactly Phantom’s preferred conditions, and our elapsed time was a full 24 hours longer than in 2019! But we kept pushing, stayed sharp, and held on for a podium finish.

We started the 2025 Annapolis to Newport Race today and are headed down the Chesapeake Bay (100 miles) and will exit the bay and sail up to Newport for another 380 miles. We’re in Class ORC2 and you can follow us on the YB Races app. We’ve experienced pouring rain just before the start to lite 2 knot breeze so far. Hoping for a stronger breeze soon.

A huge shout out to our amazing crew and incredible navigator for helping to drive Phantom to first place in the SDL6 class in this year’s Newport to Bermuda Race. Jeff made sure to put us in the best spots to succeed, while the entire crew worked tirelessly in the incredibly challenging conditions this race presented. Whether struggling to keep the boat moving for hours without measurable wind or pressing full speed down the course, everyone exhibited amazing teamwork in the face of some big challenges. Well done!!!
