Hey Ripple Effect family!

Welcome to our ‘Summer Circus Edition’ of parenting.

Huge shout‑out to A Brighter Way for letting our favorite ‘office intern’ — aka our kiddo — be his true, authentic self in our shared space.

If you’ve ever had to bring your kiddos to work, trust us, you’re not alone. We’re all just juggling work, community, and those summer break shenanigans together.

Today’s spotlight is on the power of lived experience.

Elias and Melinda have walked the same paths our families face today from the courtroom to the heart of advocacy.

Their journey together began behind prison walls, built through calls, letters, visits, and faith. Elias served 17 years in a California state prison before returning home to rebuild his life, his purpose, and his family. Melinda also knows the system from another angle: the pain of watching her brother receive a 64 to life sentence, a moment that reshaped her family and pushed her into the advocacy she leads today. These experiences aren’t from a textbook; they’re real life. And that’s what sets Ripple Effect apart.

We’ve survived the system. We’ve been those families in crisis. And that’s why we stand shoulder to shoulder with you because no one should have to face this alone.

Today, one of our Ripple Effect members faced a big moment at 54A District Court. We've been by her side at every single hearing, and today was the only time we couldn’t be there in person. But that’s exactly what sets Ripple Effect apart: even when we can’t be physically in the room, we’re there in every other way.

We stayed on the phone with her, listening to her emotions, helping her feel heard, and making sure she didn’t face this alone. After all the stress and uncertainty, her case was dismissed, and it's a huge relief.

This is what we do: we show up in person whenever we can, and when we can’t, we show up in spirit, on the phone, and in every way that matters. We’re grateful to stand with her, and today, we celebrate her strength and this victory together.
