I am blessed and mom is beyond grateful to be able to celebrate my 14th birthday today after an unexpected scare with kidney disease this past year. We're thrilled to report the success we've had with the new medications and diet to control this challenge.
We've just kicked off Max on Tour 2026 visiting the gorgeous Williamston Senior Center. This week we're headed to The Oasis in Holt followed by a trip back to Williamston to Oak Brook. It's going to be an exciting year. We thank you for all your love and support that continues to lift us up. Today, do what you can to ensure someone is seen, heard, valued and loved. God bless. Happy birthday Max.
I'm becoming convinced that my house is haunted. Watch Max's fixation on the ceiling. This is repeated on a daily, if not more often, basis

When it's this cold, you need all your people's help just to make it through. ❄️☃️😬. I should tell you there's also a heating pad under my belly. Mom doesn't miss a beat.

I was seeking God's will as to the direction of my life in 2026. On 12-11 I pulled a card from an antique Bible verses and sayings and drew this one. I wrote it down and hung it in my kitchen. This morning I had the thought to ask again and I pulled the same card probably from a stack of 250 cards. Well, you can calculate the odds of that happening or believe God was saying, "I told you the first time...". And so Max and I will continue to spread love and joy to our elderly where doors open for us. The other card I picked on 12-11 read, "Great Advocate! Almighty friend. On thee do all our hopes depend. Our cause can never, never fail. Thou dost plead and must prevail.". Happy Sunday!

Where's the Christmas tree? It's been here for over a month. I'm protesting its demise. I'm breaking into song in its honor ... "O Christmas tree, o Christmas tree, how lovely your branches...". Bah humbug!

Looking forward to 2026!

I'm a bit late for my Christmas message this year. Yet I have good news for Max's fans. It appears that the recent elevated heart blood test might not be something to cause concern, at least not at this point. 2025 has been the year in which I've been forced to make a huge mental transfer from "knowing" Max's every 6 month physical exam was almost perfect to having to accept the reality that we've reached that point in his life where that is no longer true. Those of you following us know he's at the beginning stages of kidney failure, high blood pressure, and other abnormal lab results that have caused me to put him on a restricted volunteer schedule. In addition, the earlier frigid weather didn't help. But I am praying for and confident that we'll be back out in the retirement facilities as soon as the weather improves with time. We've just ended a 9.5 year commitment to one facility and will be shifting our focus to more coverage of the area's retirement communities. There's still many places Max has not yet visited. So, consider this an open invitation to reach out to us if you are within 90 minutes of Lansing for us to come visit at no charge. We're also available for special occasions. Just message us here and we'll get back to you. 2026 will find Max Back On Tour. We hope to get you on our calendar soon. God bless you. I can't tell you how much I love and appreciate you all. It's way too soon for Max to end his therapy work so please keep him in your prayers. I know he was sent by God so I believe he is under His care.

Mom is trying to adopt the Lion's sense of courage in the Wizard of Oz as she faces yet another blow to my health. Last week's 3 month checkup for the first time showed an elevated proBNP level which is indicative of a heart under stress. It's most likely caused by his kidney failure and high blood pressure but what a change from earlier this year when all blood work was normal. I'm getting more convinced this will shorten his life, something I can't yet imagine. Maybe we need the Tinman's heart instead.
Please keep him in your prayers. I won't be able to allow him endure any more suffering in his life. Hopefully we have years left. It's just starting to get 'real'. God bless you all.

I wanted to take a moment to thank each and everyone who has supported Max over the last nine and a half years.- every person who's taken the time to pet his little head (but don't touch that butt!), who's said a few kind words to him, who's given him any sort of attention when you've seen him. Each one of those actions had a cumulative effect on healing his heart and his soul from the abuse he suffered at four years old. I wasn't sure if I'd ever see the day he'd approach someone on his own seeking a connection but it's been there for about 18 months now.
I also need to thank all of you who support this page. It's hard to comprehend that you reside in 154 different countries around the world, at least. It's truly a miracle that a small ball of fur who doesn't do much action wise, spreads as much happiness among the elderly and staff at our area retirement homes as he can. When I think of all the hours he's committed and the miles we've traveled to make this happen, well, that's a lot for the little guy with three legs.
Thanks must go to the professionals that keep his health as best as it can be including Dr. Lisa Hetrick, Banfield Pet Hospital and Dr. Dave Ramsey at the Animal Ophthalmology Center in Williamston.
Finally, a special thanks to the staff at the numerous retirement facilities that have helped us set up visits to their neck of the woods. It's truly been a joy to see the happiness he brings. Recently I've made a major change in our scheduling and have freed up more time to undertake additional Max on Tour visits in 2026. If you want us to come your way, just message us here and we'll be glad to work out a time to come see you (yes, even repeats this time).
Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I've never been more grateful than I am right now. God bless you all!

Max was invited to participate in a short commercial but Fox 47 supporting Picklepaws and Happy Feet Pet Rescue at Court One. We've never been there and Max was excited about all the new sights and sounds.

We are blessed to have such wonderful supporters of Max and his life's work. It's all about making our elderly remembered for their contributions and hopefully to bring them joy! Thank you Preuss Pets for all you do for our furry friends (and all those without fur...). We love you all.
