I co-sponsored HB 5710 and HB 5711, two bills aimed at changing Michigan's energy policy to put affordability and reliability at the forefront.
🔹 HB 5710 would change Michigan's integrated resource planning process so utilities must consider all energy sources when determining how to meet future electricity needs.
🔹 HB 5711 would change Michigan's current clean and renewable energy standards, giving utilities more flexibility in determining how to generate the electricity Michigan families and businesses depend on.
Both bills passed the Michigan House in May 2026:
This is about asking a basic question:
Should Michigan's energy policy prioritize reliable electricity at a price families and businesses can afford?
I say: yes.

I have been working with Consumer’s Energy for most of my legislative career. We have discussed grid reliability, power generation and several other topics. Yesterday, they submitted a plan to build new power generation in the 67th district in Thetford TWP to mitigate power spikes and power shortages!
