Moments like this really show what’s possible when people step up.

For those who have been involved—whether it’s donating food, volunteering, or supporting a local pantry—what motivated you to get involved?

And for anyone who hasn’t yet but is thinking about it…

what would make it easier for you to jump in and help?

There are a lot of ways to make an impact, and we’re always looking to connect people with opportunities to get involved.

Thinking about getting into or know someone thinking about getting into hunting this year?

A lot of people wait until fall to take hunter safety…
and that’s usually where things fall apart.

Classes fill up. Time runs out. And many never end up getting started.

Summer is actually the best time to take hunter safety and get prepared for the season.

We put together a quick guide to help new hunters get started the right way here in Michigan.

Community partnerships like this are what make our mission possible.

During the Ultimate Sport Show Tour, Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger collected thousands of pounds of canned and boxed food to help support God’s Kitchen in Grand Rapids, which serves meals to thousands of people every month.

Seeing hunters, outdoor enthusiasts, volunteers, and local organizations come together to help neighbors in need is exactly what this program is all about.

A special thank you to the students from Catholic Central High School who jumped in to help unload the donation. It’s inspiring to see the next generation stepping up to serve their community.

We’re grateful to partners like Catholic Charities West Michigan and God’s Kitchen for the incredible work they do every day.

Together, we’re proving that the hunting and outdoor community cares deeply about making sure no one goes hungry.

Michigan hunters now have the option to use digital harvest tags through the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app.

This new option allows hunters to validate their harvest digitally while still keeping traditional paper tags available for those who prefer them.

For organizations like Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger, changes like this matter because proper harvest validation is part of the process when hunters donate deer that are turned into venison for families in need.

We put together a quick article explaining what digital harvest tags are and what this change may mean for hunters who donate venison.

➡️ See the link in the comments to read more.

We’d also really like to hear from the hunting community.

Do you plan to use digital harvest tags, or will you stick with paper tags?

Our Board Member, Scott Baker, recently had the opportunity to join Jim Mishler on the All Outdoors Update to talk about the mission of Michigan Sportsmen Against Hunger and how hunters across our state are helping feed families in need.

A single donated deer can provide 160–200 servings of nutritious venison, and thanks to the generosity of Michigan hunters, processors, and supporters, those meals are making their way to food pantries throughout the state.

We’re grateful for the chance to share the story of how hunters, processors, and local food banks work together to make this program possible.

If you’d like to learn more about the segment and the work being done across Michigan, we’ve shared the full article below.
