💡 How do technicians find a leak when it isn't obvious?
Sometimes a leak is easy to spot. Other times, oil or coolant can spread across multiple components, making it hard to tell where it started.
That's where a UV dye test comes in. A special dye is added to the system, and with a UV light, the exact source of the leak becomes visible. Instead of guessing where the fluid came from, the dye creates a trail right back to the origin.
It's a simple concept, but it's one of the most effective ways to pinpoint leaks that could be hard to find.
Technology like this helps take the guesswork out of diagnosing modern vehicles.

Did you know your vehicle may have a panel underneath the engine that hides fluid leaks?
Most newer vehicles have a splash shield, also called a belly pan. Its job is to protect the underside of the vehicle from water, road salt, dirt, and debris.
The downside is that it can also catch leaking fluids. That means you might not see oil or coolant on your driveway, even if a leak has started.
If you notice warning lights, a burning smell, low fluid messages, or your vehicle isn't driving like it normally does, don't assume everything underneath is dry just because you don't see a puddle.
