Governor Whitmer has built her brand on cussing, so that’s no shock in her hot mic moment. What is perplexing is that even as Michigan faces a downward spiral in nearly every national metric, this administrations (Whitmer’s) approval ratings remain steady.

I hear your concerns about rising costs—soaring utility bills, unaffordable insurance, and property taxes. I also share your worries about big corporate interests overshadowing local communities and encroaching on our land. Like you, I’m discouraged by Michigan kids’ education outcomes *see below*⬇️. It’s time to acknowledge that our challenges are homegrown as other states are moving forward.

Your voices do matter, and so do the choices we make at the ballot box. Whitmer is on her way out, so we will soon have an opportunity to elect leaders who will drive real change that prioritizes the well-being of our state and its people.

It has been a busy week in Lansing, and I'm glad to be back home in our district tonight. I appreciate the support for my reelection from the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, and I look forward to the opportunities that 2027 will bring to pass meaningful legislation that truly supports Michigan's hardworking business owners and families.

We're all dealing with the pain of rising utility bills.

Yet when major rate increases are proposed, the people’s elected representatives often have no formal role in reviewing their impact.

Senate Bill 587 (Hoitenga) restores legislative oversight by requiring public review of proposed utility rate hikes before final action is taken.

If we’re accountable to the people paying the bills, we should have a seat at the table when those bills go up.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new 250-acre data center yesterday, Governor Whitmer emphasized the importance of constructing these facilities to remain competitive with other countries.

Statistics.com shows there does not appear to be any sort of risk of other countries beating the U.S. with data centers. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Today, we remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. Each story of sacrifice strengthens our commitment to ensure that their legacy lives on, not just in our memories but in our actions.

I was in Lansing for committee hearings last week, however, we did not vote on anything in the Senate. This week, we had several votes, including a time-sensitive bill for our district's schools. The ‘forgiven days’ bill is now headed to the governor’s desk for signing. I voted in favor of it.

So many folks showed up to the Wexford Joint Planning Commission meeting tonight to hear information about Ranger Powers proposed solar development on Ag land in my hometown, that the meeting was moved outside due to building capacity limits. There was not a quorum to hold an official meeting.

I will continue to fight at the state level to restore your voices over these projects, as the Whitmer administration has taken away local control. The House passed legislation last week to start the repeal of Public Act 233 so hang in there … and vote RIGHT!!!

THIS IS NOT MY BILL, but it is up for a hearing in my Ag and Natural Resources Committee tomorrow. What do you say—should the eastern wild turkey be designated Michigan’s official game bird?

This week marks National Police Week, a time to honor the courageous officers who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who tirelessly serve and protect our communities.

During my travels this week, I had the esteemed opportunity to shake hands with two extraordinary individuals. The first was Conservation Officer Luke Robare, who was awarded both a Medal of Valor and a Lifesaving Award at Wednesday’s NRC meeting in Ga***rd. His quick actions in stopping an active shooter at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints exemplify true heroism.

Today in Rogers City, I presented Officer Bruce Collins of the Rogers City Police Department with a tribute for his heroic response to a vehicle with two passengers that had plunged into Lake Huron. Without hesitation, Officer Collins entered the cold waters to rescue the individuals trapped inside.

Both of these men, along with MANY other dedicated officers, face the unknown every single day, often putting their own safety on the line. We are profoundly grateful for their service.
