Lyons students had the chance to visit space today without leaving the school! The Skydome with Mobile Ed provided an AMAZING experience for our K-4 students. Ask your child to tell you about it!

We would like to recognize Sarah Miller at Lyons, another educator who earned National Board Certification!

Sarah is a Universal Prekindergarten teacher who has devoted her career to Lansing Public Schools, where she has proudly served in the same program since 2007. Her work is grounded in a strong belief in the power of early learning and the critical role prekindergarten plays in the growth and development of our youngest learners.

"Helping our youngest scholars to learn and grow makes me feel fulfilled and happy,” Sarah says. “My favorite part is working with my sweet students every day. I believe in our children and our families. They are deserving of our attention, our resources and our investments. All children need to know teachers believe in them, someone to see all the positives of who they are and what makes them a unique participant in our classroom culture. Intrinsically, it is in my heart to believe in and help grow the greatness that exists in every child.”

Sarah chose to pursue National Board Certification because she wanted to continue growing to be the best she can be for her students. Through the process, she committed herself to reflection, understanding that growth comes from challenge and evolution. Becoming Board Certified strengthened her reflective practice and pushed her to consistently exceed expectations in order to better support her students.

School's out for tomorrow, Monday, January 26th, because the weather's gone totally frosty! Stay toasty, don't turn into human popsicles, and see you on Tuesday!

A shout-out to the choir for the beautiful performance at the concert on Wednesday. Also, a huge thank you for the beautiful flowers. It was a heart-warming night for sure! Enjoy the next two weeks and don't forget to sing a little song!
