When people think about Annie, they often think of the title role, but Annie is just one of seven named orphan roles that help bring this beloved story to life!⁣
⁣
Today, we're highlighting the **three oldest orphans** in the show:⁣
⁣
𝐏𝐞𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 (𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝟏𝟒–𝟏𝟔)⁣
Pepper is the toughest girl in the orphanage. She's bold, outspoken, and always ready for a fight. Beneath that tough exterior, though, she deeply cares about Annie and the other girls. Pepper learned to be strong because she had to survive.⁣

𝐃𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐲 (𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝟏𝟒–𝟏𝟔)⁣
As the oldest orphan, Duffy often serves as a steady presence among the girls. She understands the realities of orphanage life and helps look after the younger children. Duffy is practical, mature, and fiercely loyal to her fellow orphans.⁣

𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 (𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝟏𝟐–𝟏𝟓)⁣
July is the quietest of the orphan girls. She has learned that keeping a low profile is often the best way to avoid attracting the attention and wrath of Miss Hannigan. Though she may not be the loudest voice in the room, July has a unique perspective and an important place in the orphan family.⁣

Each of these roles gives a young performer the opportunity to create a memorable character and shine on stage. While Annie may be the title character, the story wouldn't be the same without the girls who share her journey.⁣

• Sarah Jessica Parker first appeared on Broadway as Pepper in the original 1977 production of *Annie* and later went on to play the title role of Annie herself.⁣

• Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) served as the standby for Pepper, Duffy, and July in the 2012 Broadway revival before eventually stepping into the title role of Annie.⁣

Evolve Theatrics is excited to introduce our Stage Manager for 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘦, Michelle Hill!⁣
⁣
Michelle is a member of the Evolve Theatrics Board of Directors and brings an impressive combination of artistic, organizational, and leadership experience to this important role. Many audience members will recognize Michelle from her onstage performances in our productions of 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘗𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘴, 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘨𝘰, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘻𝘦𝘯. She has also served as House Manager and has been an invaluable member of our production team both on and off the stage.⁣
⁣
Michelle's theater experience extends far beyond Evolve. Before moving to Michigan, she served as the Associate General Manager of the Young Victorian Theatre Company in Baltimore, Maryland. She remains actively involved in the local arts community and currently serves as the accountant for the Clinton County Arts Council.⁣
⁣
In addition to her extensive theater background, Michelle holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Princeton University and an MBA from Morgan State University. Her unique combination of theatrical experience, management expertise, attention to detail, and organizational skills makes her exceptionally well-qualified to take on the role of Stage Manager. We know she will help keep our production running smoothly from the auditions through the final curtain.⁣

It’s been a little quiet here on our social media pages lately, but we promise we haven’t been resting! Since closing our production of Frozen, several members of the Evolve Theatrics Board were busy assisting another local community theater production, serving in roles including Director, Assistant Director, Choreographer, and Costumer.⁣

At the same time, we have continued working behind the scenes on our upcoming production of 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘦; including set design and construction, which is already underway!⁣
⁣
At Evolve Theatrics, we truly believe community theaters are stronger when we support one another and demonstrate what it means to be a community. Theater thrives when artists, volunteers, and organizations lift each other up, and we are proud to be part of that spirit of collaboration.⁣

Bob serves as Treasurer on our Board of Directors, but to simply define him by a title would be to overlook the profound impact he has on every production. Bob is, quite truly, a cornerstone of Evolve Theatrics. His artistry, craftsmanship, and unwavering commitment are evident in every set that graces our stage.⁣

From the very beginning of our partnership with Delta Presbyterian Church, it was Bob who transformed an ambitious idea into a fully realized performance space. Through ingenuity and tireless effort, he designed and built a stage that can be assembled and disassembled within the church sanctuary—an extraordinary feat that has allowed us to bring immersive theater into a nontraditional venue.⁣

Bob’s creative vision extends far beyond function. His recently debuted “storybook” backdrop in Frozen is a testament to his ability to blend imagination with precision, creating environments that elevate storytelling and transport audiences. What sets Bob apart is not only his exceptional attention to detail, but also his collaborative spirit. He listens thoughtfully, embraces ideas, and then refines them—time and again delivering designs that not only meet expectations but surpass them, all while ensuring sustainability and reusability for future productions.⁣

It is rare to find someone who combines such technical skill with humility, generosity, and a genuine “can-do” spirit. Even more remarkable is Bob’s willingness to dedicate so much of his well-earned retirement time to supporting this company and its mission.⁣

From auditions back in October through months of rehearsals, we had a feeling something special was unfolding on our stage. What we experienced these last two weekends exceeded every hope. We could not have asked for more enthusiastic, joyful, and supportive audiences. Your spontaneous applause, laughter, cheers, and standing ovations meant the world to our cast and creative team.⁣

Producing a large-scale musical like Frozen truly takes a village. While you see the magic under the stage lights, there are countless unsung heroes working tirelessly behind the scenes — building sets, managing costumes, running sound and lights, organizing props, coordinating volunteers, and so much more. Their dedication, talent, and heart are what make the onstage magic possible.⁣

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be introducing you to the incredible individuals who bring that magic to life behind the curtain. They may not take a bow on stage, but they are stars in their own right.⁣
