I love metal detecting - being outdoors, the hunt, the treasures! I hope you enjoy seeing some of my finds!

Whether hunting in a local park or in West Virginia, for my own pleasure or to find somebody's lost ring, I work hard and dig respectfully.

Haven’t posted on here in quite a while - I figure it’s about time I do!
Here’s my last 2 digs, one from a home built in late 1800’s but based on available finds I’m sure it’s been dug more than once!
The other is the front yard of a house a few blocks from me. Somebody must’ve had fun throwing all those coins in the front yard!

Hit a local park the other day that I’ve done several times before. Got so tired of digging up shotgun shells that I was starting to be happy to find pulltabs. And that’s when I found my first ever buffalo nickel! I know y’all have found lots of them, but even though I found lots of silver and 1800s coins, this is my first one.
Too bad it’s not in better shape and I can’t get a date off of it, but it still counts!

It’s been a while, but I finally got out for the first time this season a couple of days ago. At a local high school yard, nothing really special but really good to get out again!

Made it down to Fayetteville,WV this week. Here are some of my better finds.
The Liberty seated quarter is a Philadelphia mint.
The Chinese coin is from the Ch’ing dynasty, Kangxi, 1662-1722. (Authenticated by local coin shop.) Certainly did not expect to find that in West Virginia, and it is definitely my oldest coin find to date!

Spent a couple of hours at a tiny park I didn’t know existed until today - and less than a mile away!
I’ll be going back to look again in the areas I found the compact and other older stuff.
(Yes, some of the things were non-metallic surface finds😁)

Digging at a church permission last night. Most coins dug on a dig so far ( in about 2 hours).

Fun stuff at a local park - I’ll be going back there again!

An interesting interview with a long time digger. Obviously his story is a little different than mine, but I certainly can relate to most everything he has to say.

'It's the hunt': Longtime Michigan metal detector discusses the draw When you go to Pere Marquette Park Beach in Muskegon, you might find a man named Dan Betz scouring the sand for buried treasures. Turns out, he's been doing that since 1973, almost 50 years!

You never know what you’ll find in a schoolyard.

I really enjoy metal detecting in my own neighborhood. This is a picture from a few months ago of some of the things I have found within a block or two of my house during my first year and a half of digging. Even more cool stuff since then!

Spent a couple days in Sturgis, Mi detecting at a church and a couple parks (one was an old dump site). I’ll be going back again when I can.
