Next Move Community Services

Next Move Community Services is looking for motivated individuals who would love to help their community by helping us develop programming and events for teens! Meetings will take place outside of school hours and will either be once a month or every two months. Up to 5 youth will be selected to participate and those youth will receive a $200 incentive for their time. Please share!

Next Move’s transportation fund ensures that even when we reach grant funding limits we are able to continue to provide rides for program participants to their place of employment, important appointments, and safe housing as they complete the program and achieve consistent employment.

Is your child's car seat installed correctly?

Stop by Lansing Fire Department Headquarters, 18200 Chicago Ave., from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, for a free child car seat inspection.

As part of National Child Passenger Safety Week, certified technicians from the Lansing Fire and Police Departments will inspect and install child car sears to help keep Lansing's youngest passengers safe.

Can't make it? Free car inspections are available to Lansing residents by appointment throughout the year. Contact the Fire Department at (708) 895-7400 to schedule.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our country. Countless lives were lost including emergency responders and volunteers who courageously risked their lives to help others. Local residents continue to feel the effects of the attacks through chronic respiratory diseases and cancers. PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall on Lontcs Busy Board toys on September 10th, 2026 due to the toys’ zipper containing levels of lead that exceed the standard set in the federal lead paint ban.
Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues. Consumers should stop using the busy boards immediately and contact SQT for a full refund.
