With the school year coming to an end we want to wish you all an awesome summer! 🚧

This year our students gained hands-on experience, learned valuable industry skills, explored career opportunities, and continued building the foundation for successful futures in the trades. From the classroom to the shop and jobsite visits, it has been incredible to watch their growth, determination, and confidence throughout the year.

We’re proud of all the students have accomplished and excited to see what comes next for each of them. Have a safe, fun, and well deserved summer!

Every sign, cone, and flashing light in a work zone represents real people. People with families, friends, kids, and lives outside of that vest and hard hat. They deserve to make it home safely too. Our heart goes out to all involved 🚧❤️

Mental health in the trades is something that needs to be talked about more. Many workers struggle in silence because they’re scared of being judged, looked at differently, or told to live up to being stoic and tough.

Checking in on your people and self matters. Asking for help matters. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

No job, no title, nor a paycheck is worth losing yourself or someone you love. You are not weak for needing support.

Kalamazoo RESA students had the opportunity to sit in on a presentation from Grand Davo Crane Service today. Students learned more about the crane industry, different career opportunities within the trade, and what a day in the field can look like.

Opportunities like this help students explore different pathways in the skilled trades and hear directly from industry professionals. Thank you again for taking the time to speak with our students!

Huge thank you to Michigan Paving & Materials Company for allowing our students to tour the plant! The students had the opportunity to check out the lab, plant operation tower, and all of the hoppers and belts involved in making asphalt. 👷🚧👷‍♂️

Experiences like this give students a closer look into the world of road construction and aggregate while learning about the many different pathways into the trade. We appreciate the time and knowledge your team shared with our students!

Our students had the chance to attend the Construction Career Days event and it was such a great experience! Opportunities like this allow students to meet people in the industry, learn more about career and technical education, and see all the different paths available to them after graduation.

At the State Level SkillsUSA Heavy Equipment Operation Competition, our Shiawassee RESD student Corey White earned 1st place, an achievement that reflects practice, focus, and determination.

Now, he’s headed to Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia.

We’re proud of the work, the growth, and the grit it took to get here. Wishing Corey the best as he takes this next step and represents on the national stage
