Back to longing for summer 🌞

It was a good one though, so much change, meeting a bunch of new people including some incredible photographers, models and clients, shooting at new studios and locations and just enjoying my time. I definitely feel my photography grew a lot this summer and am looking forward to some fall fun!

Beyond obsessed with these golden hour shots. This red robe is part of my client closet and I’ve been waiting to shoot with it so I was pumped when Kaity picked a red suit to wear. It photographed so well, especially with the sunset.

We got so many good shots I can’t wait to share more! Kaity G. is such a dream to shoot with!

A few of the things you get with a photoshoot with me. The laughs are an extra perk

I have spent the last couple of months planning my sand and snaps photoshoot, however the weather and Lake MI had other plans on Sunday. From rain off and on and the percentage changing all day (not to mention every time I checked the weather) plus red flags out on the beach we had planned, unfortunately, I had to decide to cancel my event.

It’s taken years for me to push past the imposter syndrome and plan one of these events. From having little engagement, to having to reschedule the 1st time, to finally multiple sign ups, to having to cancel, it’s safe to say this has been a roller coaster. You would think this would have deterred me from wanting to plan things like this in the future but I’m actually just interested to see how much they will grow and change.

The thing is, I really love photography and I really believe in my photography. Even if it takes me years to build anything in it, I’m okay with that. I realized a while ago just how much I love shooting. Literally everything else disappears and I get to create in a way that helps others see themselves as I do, and in a completely new way. I would (and do too often) shoot for free because I’m in love with it and just want to be doing it.

So, when Sunday’s lake MI event fell through, I called my mom, sent her a few different ideas for a photoshoot, grabbed too many flowers and spent the afternoon shooting in her pool and enjoying the last day of an already gone summer.

This isn’t what I thought my last photoshoot of the summer would turn out to be but I can’t complain at the opportunity to get some photos of my beautiful mom. She’s been hinting at wanting to do a photoshoot for a while so I’m glad we were able to finally make that happen and that we have images like this to look back on from now on.

I guess what I’m saying is when life hands you lemons, you go drink lemonade at your mom’s pool and create anyways.

And if this shoot is something you’re interested in I can totally ask my mom if you can come over and play mermaids, just let me know before fall fully arrives!
