Our Property Maintenance & Renovation students recently took on a Structural Beauty Project that put their teamwork, creativity, and construction skills to the test.
Using only two 1x4x6 boards, each team designed and built a structure that had to:
Stand at least 36 inches tall, have a base no larger than 18 inches, and be structurally strong.
After construction, the real challenge began—load testing! Teams put their designs to the test to see how much weight they could support. The results were incredible, with some structures holding nearly 500 pounds.
This project demonstrated the importance of planning, engineering principles, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Congratulations to our students for their hard work, innovation, and impressive results!

It was a busy and exciting week in our Protective Services program as students stepped into the courtroom—right in their own classroom!
During a mock trial exercise, each student took on a vital role in the judicial process, including that of an attorney, witness, juror, judge, or law enforcement officer. Using an arrest report, an incident report, and case materials provided by their instructor, students applied their knowledge of courtroom procedures in a realistic, hands-on setting.
The trial featured opening and closing statements, witness testimony, cross-examinations, and thoughtful deliberation. Throughout the experience, students demonstrated professionalism, critical thinking, communication skills, and a strong understanding of the criminal justice system.

In addition, we would like to thank the Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company for their generous donation of hydraulic rescue tools and a gas-powered ventilation fan. These donations provide students with valuable hands-on opportunities to learn proper maintenance procedures for firefighting equipment and to practice rescue and emergency response training using industry-standard tools.
Experiences like these help prepare our students for future careers in law enforcement, firefighting, emergency services, and other protective services professions by bringing classroom learning to life.

Our Protective Services students had the opportunity to learn from two local police departments over the past week.
Officers from the Montgomery Township Police Department K9 Unit visited to demonstrate the many skills police canines use in the field and discuss the path to becoming a K9 handler. Earlier this week, officers from Towamencin Township Police Department worked with students on how to safely perform a traffic stop and shared insight into real-world police procedures.
Thank you to both departments for taking the time to provide our students with hands-on learning experiences and career insight.
