The workers are ready. Are the owners and developers?

NABTU is setting the record straight: America's construction workforce gaps aren't inevitable; they're the result of choices. Decades of prioritizing cheap, short-term labor over real workforce investment created the problem. The solution already exists: tuition-free Registered Apprenticeship Programs, Earn While You Learn training and a pipeline of over 300,000 skilled craft workers ready to build the data centers, energy infrastructure and manufacturing facilities driving our economy forward.

Projects using union labor are 40 percent less likely to experience skilled labor shortages. The path forward is partnership and long-term planning, not panic.

This Memorial Day, the Mechanical Insulators LMCT pauses to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States of America.

We are a community built on hard work, dedication and showing up for one another — values we share with the brave servicemembers who sacrificed everything for this country. Today, we remember them with gratitude and deep respect.

To the fallen and the families who carry on in their memory — thank you.

Good-paying jobs. Lower energy costs for taxpayers. Reduced emissions in federal buildings.

That's what the Federal Mechanical Insulation Act (S. 4312) delivers — and that's why Insulators delegates made their voices heard during the 2026 Legislative Conference.

With the Senate companion bill now introduced by . Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Daines (R-MT), and the House bill already on the suspension calendar, momentum is building.

Did you know the federal government is the single largest energy consumer in the United States — yet mechanical insulation is NOT included in its mandatory building energy audits?

The Federal Mechanical Insulation Act (S. 4312) would change that. During the 2026 Legislative Conference, Local delegates traveled to Capitol Hill to urge their Senators to support this commonsense, bipartisan legislation.

The result? More than 30 Senate meetings. Real conversations. Real impact.

Happy Mother's Day from the Mechanical Insulators LMCT!

Today, we take a moment to honor the mothers who are part of our family. The mechanical insulation industry is built on the hands and hearts of dedicated workers, and behind so many of those workers is a mother who made it possible.

Thank you to every mom who has supported, sacrificed and loved without limits. Your strength is the foundation of our community.

Wishing all mothers a warm and wonderful day!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the Mechanical Insulators LMCT wants to take a moment to check in — not just on the work, but on the people doing the work.

Mental health challenges are more common than many of us realize, and in the building trades, they often go unspoken. It is our mission to change that stereotype. Whether you are a journeyman, apprentice or contractor, your mental well-being matters.

You do not have to have everything figured out to ask for help. Reach out to someone you trust or call or text 988 to reach the Su***de and Crisis Lifeline — free, confidential and available around the clock.

Let's look out for each other this month and every month.

Workers’ Memorial Day is a somber reminder of the risks faced by those in the mechanical insulation industry. From jobsite accidents to long-term health complications like mesothelioma, we remember those we have lost. The LMCT continues to advocate for the safety equipment, training and regulations that save lives.
