“We Write Ourselves In…”
Reflects on the continuing fight to realize the promises of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. While these laws established freedom, citizenship, and voting rights, history shows that those rights have never existed without people demanding them. This mural focuses on everyday individuals who continued and continue-l to do that work. Through organizing, protest, and community care, ordinary people shape the meaning of justice in their own time and their own right. By centering these figures, this series honors those who refuse to be erased and reminds us that change doesn’t simply happen in courts or legislation, it is demanded through the actions of people who push to be seen, heard, and counted.
**Fun Fact (swipe): I painted each piece of this mural in my 10x10’ extra art room in my apartment. Each portrait was no bigger than my hand and I had to use a number 1 and 2 brush most of the time. I finished the day before Lydia Hamilton Smiths birthday, February 14.
The is open today and FREE admission until 5pm!

Yesterday I had the incredible opportunity to host a Paint & Connect experience for during their annual Juneteenth celebration!
It was the first time I created a piece alongside a live painting happening by my Tribe brother and the energy was unmatched.
Everyone showed up and showed out their creativity! I was so inspired by them and I left feeling full and grateful to be part of it all.❤️💚💛🖤

This Water Week, I wanted to be more intentional about getting involved and showing up for more events surrounded by people who love and care for nature as much as I do (if not more!).
As someone who has painted storm drain murals for years, I realized I wanted to do more than just create artwork inspired by our environment. I wanted to learn, volunteer, and find ways to give back to the land and water that give so much to us.
We have some incredible people doing important work right here in Lancaster from protecting our waterways and creating more opportunities for people to get outside, to helping establish Lancaster’s first Nature Preserve! There’s so many ways to stay involved throughout the year outside Water Week. Getting connected to this work has made me appreciate our community and natural spaces even more. 💧🙏🏽
& so many more!

I had the opportunity to paint a monarch butterfly for the Voices of Migration project, representing my family’s journey to Lancaster.
This project felt like a full-circle moment. A few months ago, I connected with a long lost branch of my family through AncestryDNA results I had received a few years ago. It made me realize how much of our history can go unknown, and how important it is to preserve and share those stories.
Being able to create a piece inspired by my roots that will be displayed in Southeast Lancaster where my father and uncles migrated to means a lot to me. I wanted to honor the journeys that shape who we are.

6 years ago, the world changed forever with the killing of George Floyd, broadcasted for everyone to see.
Seeing my people killed through police brutality moved something in me that I could no longer ignore. It pushed me to use the one tool I knew best; ART.
That was the first time I ever protested in my life, but I knew I needed to create something in that moment. I still remember how it felt standing in the middle of it all, hearing protesters echo through the streets right next to the police station, working alongside my homies
It was my second public art installation, and I had no idea what I was doing but I knew it mattered.
That moment, that pain, and that time in history changed my life and my career forever as it did the world. To this day it’s still being shared and studied in universities I’ve never even stepped foot in. 🥹✊🏽🖤
