The Derringer 196 Cubic Inch Engine Installed!
Pictured is the 196 Big Block Derringer resting quite comfortable in the Outlaw Bagger chassis. Most all of the design work is done and proofed out. What we have left is the small things like the oil line feed and return plumbing as well as the oil fill for the under transmisson oil tank. We will be designing the composite intake manifold in the next few weeks that will accept the throttle by wire 76mm throttle body. Stay tuned! JV

After years of success in the mid to late 80’s on the Ironhead®-based Zipper’s Pro-Stock motorcycles, a new motorcycle was quietly being designed to be competitive into the next decade. This motorcycle was based around the new Evolution® Sportster® Engine.
Dave Zehner and John Magee settled on a new chassis design, to be constructed by Bandit Machine in Pennsylvania. Major changes were made to the layout and geometry of the chassis, and there was a complete departure from the venerable 4-speed transmission, that dated back to 1952. A complex integration of an all-new 5 speed transmission occurred at the same time. The Racecase transmission was born to handle the additional power while drastically increasing the durability and cutting down on shift-times at the track.
The continual push for a better-handling, more powerful, and more durable motorcycle still thrives inside Zipper’s today, and is why we are still in business 40 years later.
