Some good news….. I have more of my artwork published in a physical hard copy book from 2024 and 2025! As life goes on, I still take pride in my artwork and being published.

Check out this sink bowl that I made for my friends at Manorfield Farm on a collaborated project. It has been my largest turning to date and turned out really beautiful! Go check it out in person!

What to do with extra sawdust around the shop???
We make fire starters!
We try our very best at a zero wood waste around here, I mean I’ve spent so much time cutting logs, milling, drying then storing them, why not use every ounce we can right?
Simple project for people to do at home!
Materials:
Cardboard egg cartons
Left over candle wax (or paraffin wax)
Sawdust
Instructions:
1) Fill cardboard egg cartons with sawdust.
2) Melt left over candle wax you have laying in jars around your home.
3) Pour the melted wax over the sawdust fairly liberally to allow it to soak into egg carton and sawdust.
4) Let cool over night.
5) Tear or cut apart with heavy duty scissors (I use old pair of tin snips).
6) Store them in a dry place until you’re ready to use.

What a busy weekend I had… needed some time to recover which is why I’m posting mid-week. I turned all these pens minus 3 that I had left over from previously in only 2 days, along with many of the other items! Let me know what you think of them and what’s your favorite in the comments!
All these items headed to an art festival in MD this weekend, fingers crossed they all sell but if not, I’ll be posting the left overs along with new stuff to sell for this holiday season! Follow along to se me what’s available in next upcoming weeks!

So for every so many projects in the workshop, you gotta squeeze in some time for family projects. This one is 15 picture frames for my wife and kids photos and art work to display in our home. It’s a long over due project as some of the items needing framed have been sitting off to the side for over a year, but it will now fill our home with long lasting school photos, kids artwork and so much more.

Out with the old and in with the new. My trusty Laguna 14BX has treated me very well over the years but as most things in woodworking goes, it’s time for an upgrade to its bigger brother the Laguna 18BX! This new bandsaw makes my old bandsaw look so small!

So did some metal work this past weekend to create a storage solution that’s been bugging me for a few weeks as my new robust.tools have been taking up space on my workbench. So I decided to go to the scrap yard to find a chunk of metal for $8 and draw out a template to hold my tool rest and bolt it to my Lathe for quick easy access and storage. Drilling through 1/4” steel plate wasn’t as hard as I expected it to be with the correct type of drill bits in the drill press.

Some more photos from MAWS. This was a really unique turner Jim Williams from Ontario, Canada, making these wooden Cowboy and baseball hats. It’s really cool how he makes these from a solid chunk of wood. Check out his link below.

Some more photos from MAWS. This was an extremely impressive woodturner Eiko Tanaka from Japan who specializes in traditional Japanese woodturning dating back at least 7,000 years. Her initial trade was in traditional Japanese lacquer application and then went to a 4 year school to learn woodturning. A specialized lathe had to be made just for her demonstration by the mid Atlantic Wood Turner’s club to show her process. If I ever make it to Japan I hope to visit her studio! Check out her link below.
