We grew up before cell phones.
We drank from the water hose. Rode our bikes until dark. Knocked on doors instead of sending texts. And when the streetlights came on, we knew it was time to head home.
The grove roads were still dirt. Orange trees stretched for miles. You could smell the blossoms in the spring and watch the dust roll behind every truck that passed by.
No GPS. No social media. Just good friends, old dirt roads, and a whole lot of freedom.
Sometimes I wonder if we knew how good we had it.
