The aftermath of recent severe storms across Illinois is a powerful reminder of just how quickly nature can turn destructive. Downed trees, snapped branches, damaged fences, blocked roads, and widespread debris are visible throughout the affected neighborhoods.

These photos capture the cleanup and destruction left behind after the powerful August storms that brought damaging winds and tornadoes across northern Illinois. The National Weather Service documented widespread tree damage, with some areas experiencing wind gusts near 90 mph and confirmed tornadoes.

A long road to recovery begins with clearing the debris, repairing homes and property, and helping neighbors get back on their feet. 🌳💨🙏

A little appreciate for all the beautiful trees out there 🌲 ❤️

Our tree injection treatments deliver protection directly into the tree’s vascular system, helping defend against harmful insects and diseases while minimizing impact on the surrounding landscape.

Saving mature trees is always worth the effort.

This apple tree developed a significant lean after being overloaded with fruit and exposed to strong winds. Instead of removing it, we installed a professional cabling and support system to gradually encourage it back toward an upright position while reducing stress on the trunk and root system.

Tree cabling is a preservation technique that provides structural support, helping valuable trees recover while minimizing the risk of failure. With proper monitoring and adjustments, this tree has a much better chance of thriving for years to come.

A powerful reminder from yesterday’s storms in Illinois.

This tree appeared healthy from a distance, but the failure exposed extensive internal decay that had likely been developing for years. The storm wasn’t the cause—it was the test.

Trees can hide significant structural defects while still producing a full, green canopy. That’s why visual appearance alone doesn’t always tell the whole story.

Sometimes the strongest-looking trees have the biggest secrets.

⚡ A lightning strike peeled a strip of bark from this oak from the upper canopy all the way to the ground.

Many people assume a tree dies immediately after being struck, but that’s not always the case. Some survive for years, while others slowly decline as the hidden damage catches up with them.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this one. Nature never stops teaching.
