An interesting photo from our saddle evaluation yesterday shows one of the saddles the owner was borrowing sitting right, thus not protecting the horse's spine or distributing the rider's weight correctly. The rider is intuitively trying to ride over the center of balance of the horse, intermittently stepping left to try to get the saddle straight. Such a frequent problem! Sometimes the solution is a reflock, sometimes shims, sometimes a different saddle...it depends on the horse's shape and how well the saddle fits in general.

This issue can sneak up on you so having someone check regularly will help your horse's comfort.
