Recently, 40 retired fire hoses found a completely unexpected second life… at a primate rescue in Florida. 🦧🔥♻️

What used to fight fires will now become enrichment tools, climbing structures, swings, hammocks, and habitat additions for rescued gorillas and orangutans. Honestly, this is the kind of repurposing story that reminds us why we do what we do.

Most people see “old fire hose” and think end-of-life material.
This rescue operation saw durability, texture, flexibility, and an opportunity to create a more stimulating environment for the animals in their care.

One material.
One second chance.
A completely different purpose.

Meet Skip and Gabriel 🐾

Gabriel is a 9-year-old Bronze Grand Champion Airedale Terrier who’s spent the last several years proving exactly why he’s one of the top Airedales in the country. With over 100 puppies sired—many of them champions and grand champions themselves—his legacy is already running strong across the U.S. and Canada. But at home? He’s a farm dog living his best life and Skip’s best buddy.

Skip, one of our longtime Ohio customers, grew up dreaming about Airedales after watching a Disney movie featuring Hector the Airedale back in the 60s. When he finally moved out to the farm with his wife, he knew it was time. That childhood dream turned into a passion—then into breeding—and he never looked back.
