Imagine!’s CORE/Labor Source department has begun working with Timberline Mechanical to provide supported employment for some of the folks Imagine! serves. Timberline Mechanical is a leading provider of commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) services in our area. Timberline Mechanical will have two Imagine! crews washing vehicles and doing light janitorial work for them. John Kuepper, one of the company’s founders, made a nice blog post about it. Thanks John and Timberline Mechanical!

When school officials told Ray Steffy his son Joe would never be able to hold down a job because of his autism and Down syndrome, the elder Steffy got mad. Then he went into action. "I was just determined to prove to them he could work," Steffy said. Joe is now 26. He not only works, he creates work for others. With the help of his father and mother, Janet, Joe started Poppin' Joe's — a kettle corn business that grossed $60,000 last year and has seven part-time employees. http://cjonline.com/news/2012-04-04/popcorn-success-story-highlights-disability-summit

Check out the article (and video) below from Sunday’s Longmont Times-Call. It features a story about Imagine!’s CORE/Labor Source radio broadcasting class. The story has an inspiring quote from an individual served by Imagine!: "Life can be challenging and life can be scary, but you just have to learn that life is what it is. And you have to learn to be brave and be successful in any way you can."

We’ve told you before how Charles SmartHome resident Gerald has been working at The Twisted Pine Brewery in Boulder, helping out with inventory using his DynaVox, an assistive communication device. Keep in mind that five years ago, Gerald couldn’t even count to ten! Check out the pictures of him hard at work, and make sure to read the captions as they show the process Gerald uses to count the inventory. Many thanks to Twisted Pine for its continued support of Gerald and many others served by Imagine!.
